I feel so awkward announcing I'm pregnant at work. Anyone else?

I will be 12 weeks on Saturday and I have told my bosses and close friends at work (Even Facebook) but for the other people at work that I pass in the halls every day, smile and say hello and share a quick chat with once and a while, I haven't mentioned a thing.

I just feel awkward actually saying "Im pregnant". I dont know why. It never feels like the right moment. I feel like 70% of my coworkers are just going to either figure it out when I grow a bump or hear it from someone else.

How did the word spread around the office for you?

Does/Did anyone feel awkward announcing it. It just doesn't feel organic to me and trust me, I wanted this badly. I am very excited.

I felt the same exact way!! I only told my direct supervisors. As far as everyone else, I just let them guess or hear it by word of mouth. I felt weird announcing it!

I felt weird saying I was pregnant out loud to anyone, let alone work! I don't know why I felt that way, this was 100% planned! I guess there is just a fear that conversations will completely change once everyone knows. Don't worry though, I'm sure your work will be so happy for you!

yes i did too! luckily i work with my mother, so after i announced it to my boss, i let her tell the rest of the office! LOL

I'm 18 weeks today and my office still doesn't know. only my boss knows, and 2 of my good friends. I feel totally weird also, like "look at me, I'm pregnant!" I will probably tell next week, after my next sono.

I felt the same way. I told my boss and a few co-workers that I am friends with. I felt weird bringing up to anyone else b/c its not something you can really work into a regular conversation and I felt funny just coming out randomly and announcing it. Everyone will figure it out eventually. A lot of people have been congratulating me lately, so I must have finally past the point of "is she pregnant or just gaining weight?" and its obvious now so people aren't afraid to ask. lol

I felt weird saying it also. I work in a small office so instead of just telling people, I brought in munchkins and left a note that said “from the pregnant lady who had a craving”. It got people asking one another who was pregnant (not many options here) and then when the first person figured out it was me and came over to hug me, they all came over and congratulated me. So it got the news out without me actually having to say it.

I was working when I got pregnant with DS. I told the people I was friendly with and just let the word spread that way.

I felt that same way. I just told my boss at 17 weeks. i am starting to tell some people, especially ones that I need to plan with with for my leave. I told frends and family early on, but I agree its werid to just he I pregnany to people I work with. They soon will figure it out.

I told my boss and people I worked closely with but everyone else I just waited til they did a double take when I started showing and then I elaborated

I told my principal and assistant principal at 13 weeks and a few teachers I'm close with also. The principal asked me if it was ok to spread the news and I said sure. Little by little, either by gossip or by me showing, the cat was out of the bag.

I plan on telling my Principal , (my AP is a close friend so she knows), my one close co worker and my students. I figure word will spread as my asss does

I told a few people who I was close with, or that have been bugging me since the day I got married . A lot of people at work are on FB too, so it spread that way also. Then there were some meetings that I went to where I was showing and people were like "oh wow, look at you!" I think everyone knows now, and if they don't they'll find out when my boss sends out an e-mail announcing his arrival

me too. My boss knows and I think the other Asst. Principals know. Some of my friends who teach know, but I feel like everyone else is looking at me like, "Is she gaining weight or pregnant?" I really feel like everyone is staring at my belly!

I work in a school with a lot of people, and I don't talk to everyone, so I dont want to just randomly say, "Hi. we never speak. I'm pregnant."

hahaha I feel awkward annoucing it at a meeting.

l feel the same EXACT way!! Thank you for posting this!! It just feels awkward bringing it up to co-workers. And, same as you, this baby was wanted like crazy!!

I am now obviously showing and you get the blatent stares at your belly... and I still don't know what to say.

I avoid walking down the hall as much as possible to avoid bringing attention to myself!

When I worked with baby #1 and #2 - I was the same way. I told my boss kind of early and my closest 1-2 friends around 14-15 weeks. The rest found out when my big belly blossomed!! I use to get comments on how huge my belly was (and I so wasn't) - it was just I didn't tell everyone thought I was much earlier in the pregancy than I was. Most people didn't know til I was over 23 weeks!! I jsut am personal like that - I just keep to myself and tell be what they need to know unless it comes up or I am close enough to them.
