I feel so guilty

DS usually is such a good sleeper and napper. Today, he was very fussy going down for his afternoon nap. I let him cry for a few minutes, went to check on him and then put him back down. About 10 minutes later, he was still crying, so I went back to check on him. He was sitting up in his crib and wouldn't lay down. I laid him down and left the room. I figured he would just cry a few minutes longer and go to sleep, this is not like him. He did just cut his first tooth, so I picked him up to comfort him, and then put him back down 1 more time. Another 15 minutes go by and he is hysterical, but I'm determined not to go. Finally after 20 minutes of screaming, I went in only to find he dropped his pacifier out of the crib, and he looked exhausted. I picked it up and gave it back. He closed his eyes immediately and went to sleep. How does CIO work? What are the time intervals? I tried to do a search, but couldn't find it.

Poor little guy...I'm sure he will be fine. You are way past te point of CIO...he already is a great sleeper. CIO is for when you are trying to teach them how to go to sleep on their own. Now...you just need to teach him to talk, so he could yell..."mommy, I dropped my paci" Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: I feel so guilty

I think it might be posted in the reference threads pinned at the top of the page.

I'm so sorry about that. That has happened here too, she's had a poopy diaper or dropped her Nuk then I feel so bad that I let her cry Chat Icon

ETA: Summer's post is pinned, check it out Chat Icon
