I got a ticket for an expired registration but...
I paid for it before it expired and I'm just waiting for it to arrive.
1-can I fight the ticket?
2-how do I make sure I don't get a second or third ticket while I'm waiting for it to arrive?

You should receive a receipt w/your new registration. Once you've done so - you can plead "not guilty."
ETS: To prevent yourself from not getting any further tickets - you should not use the car (or have it out and about) - storing it in the garage and such.

Not an option. I live in Queens and I have to park on the street. I got it at 7:00 am!

Put the ticket in the window so they can see that you already got a ticket. I did that when I got one for my inspection and had to wait until the weekend to get it done.

I don't think displaying the ticket in the window will prevent you from getting another one. I think it will just call MORE attention to your car.

you can definitely fight the ticket. plead not guilty and when you go to court, they will dismiss upon proof. i did this with my insurance in Nassau. a bit of a PITA but worth it to avoid the ridiculous fees.
did you renew online and get a confirmation? can you display this in the window?

Agreed. Also, the city can legally ticket your car for the same offense every three hours.
It works the same way when you don't pay for a meter. You can receive multiple tickets for the same offense b/c you've done nothing to rectify it.

No, I mailed it. I could have done it online but at the time, it was easier to mail it.
