I got an interview..
I have an interview with NYC schools on Jan 22. They said that they could offer a position on the spot. Has this happened to anyone before especially in the middle of the year?

I think there are so many schools that are in such need of qualified teachers these days. There was recently a big article in Newsday regarding the amount of teachers teaching unqualified or out of their area of concentration.

Yes, someone I know got a job in November. THey realized that they had too many kids, and they needed to open another section. Best of luck to you. I heard that the city got a great contract as far as pay increases!

I sent them my resume/application via their website and they sent me an email asking me to go to a site to pick a date for an interview.

yes, I got my job in November...people leave(maternity) or class size is sometimes too big and the create a new class on a grade.

I also started in November- I can't recall if it had been a vacancy that hadn't been filled from the start of the year, or if someone had quit.
Good luck! It helps to be math- math teachers seem to be hard to come by.
