I Got summoned for Jury Duty.. Should I postpone then ask to get excused to not serve at all?
I work different hours everyday so it is difficult for me to get a sitter from 9-5 everyday. Thanks

I would bring DC with me. When they ask you, you can say you don't have a sitter and DC has to stay with you.

if you have a child under the age of 16, if you can show proof, you can be delayed until they are of age.. only way this doesnt count for you is if you work F/T.. they feel if you can work F/t with child you can serve JD.

My problem is I do work full-time, but my hours vary from 8 a.m. until 9 p.m. and that means the sitter varies.. It is also The week of Thanksgiving...

You can ask for a 6 month delay if you send in now.

I called and told them I would have to bring the baby (since I work FT but wouldn't have anyone to drop off or pick up), but they did NOT ask me if I worked FT. They only asked me for a birth certificate to show I have a young child. They postponed me for 2 years.

When i went to JD thats what they announced to the parents in the room waiting. I was prego at time so didnt apply to me, so dont know from experience.

Thanks I postponed until May 2008, but in the meantime I am going to send a copy of her birth certificate and the days/times I work so maybe I will not have to go until she is a little older and my schedule is more stable.

This is what I have done for the past 10 years (my youngest is almost 5). Although, your not "suppose" to do this, in my experience, it works. BTW, I'm a lawyer, who works PT (and has the same problem with before and after hours care), and was told to do this by my lawyer/mommy friends. Good luck!!

I think that it depends where you live or who you talk to. When I called with pretty much the same reason, I was told that I could only delay for 6 months and then to delay for another 6 months when I get the next notice. And I work full time and also BF (and pump at work).
