I had one little small pang of jealousy today...
All three of my best friends got raises and promotions at work this week.
They rock - work hard and totally deserve it!
but a little teeny tiny part of me was a little jealous.
I am not sure if it is of the money - or more importantly the recognition of success (I mean who recognizes what I do every day?). Maybe it's the new job titles they got - sometimes I feel like as a SAHM we get none of that. (yes, I know I work hard and yadi, yadi...but c'mon - no one is dishing out bonuses for a job well done around here). For a SAHM it's just expected without reward.
Anyway - I just had to confess...although I still wouldn't change it for the world!!

I can't say I understand because I would give up my promotion and raise anytime to be a SAHM. To me it means nothing, I'd rather be with my DD.
SO be proud of who you are and what you do. Your DC are your reward/bonus and one day they will thank you for it. There are many of us who are jealous they can't be with their DC.

Thank you Charly - I do know that, and should have added that I do feel extremely grateful that I have the opportunity to do so.

What's your address? I'll send you certificates of excellence whenever you deserve them But I'd be doing that daily, so expect quite a few

I understand what you are saying. I love being a SAHM and I know how lucky I am to be able to do so living on LI.
But I hate how some people treat you once you become a SAHM. For example, DH's colleagues treat me like a child at his holiday party every year. It's like they think I can only talk about kids and then I'm ignored while the grown ups talk. Meanwhile in the past they'd ask me about my job, my feelings on some of the companies they have positions in, etc.

Re: I had one little small pang of jealousy today...
Totally know what you mean. But usually, I get jealous of my DH...especially since he teaches part time and especially when he gets his student reviews. I'm like, "I'm the teacher!"
Being a SAHM is pretty thankless, but so is being any kind of a parent...mom, dad, working or SAH. It's worth it when Katherine says to me on a day like today, "Thank you making cookies with me, Mama." So, as few as those moments can be, they do exist...
But I still miss sooo much about working
