i had to make a complaint to the aspca today...

went on a job at work where this woman let her neighbor watch her cocker spainel, emma, while she was in the psych ward for 2 weeks... she got out and now the neighbor doesn't want to give her back the dog because she knows the lady doesn't feed it properly and lets it live in it's own feces, plus when she got her, she had ear infections in both ears and an eye infection, all that had been left untreated.
the owner admitted to me that she can't afford to get the dog proper vet care... i told she she should contact the aspca and they would assist her in getting veterinary assistance for her dog, but that she HAD to do something, because to deny an animal medical attention is abuse.
i had to force the neighbor to give the dog back... i felt horrible, she was crying hysterically... but it was this other women's dog, so how could i not?
the owner was just so snide in getting back the dog; i honestly think all she cared about was "winning" the argument, not about emma at all. it was absolutely heartbreaking, i just wanted ti take emma home myself.
i called the aspca and will let them investigate and make a determination... i just feel so bad for emma

You did the right thing, and hopefully Emma's owner will do the right thing for her too.
