I hate looking up medical issues online!
I have a sty in my eye, never had one before.
they give you such a long list of possible causes. so now what?? do I throw out all my makeup, or hope that was caused by something else on that ridiculously long list? 
I actually found the info on LIF (after doing a search) more helpful than what I found by doing a google search

Don't look things up online; my doctor says this is the worst thing you can do! My mom does it all the time, too....
Just change your eye makeup applicators/mascara and feel better!

Warm compresses and they sell stye stuff OTC..go get some.

thanks to the info I found on LIF, I am not wearing any eye makeup today. and I tried the tea bag compress and Q-tip thing last night.
I will be replacing the brushes I use for eyeshadow. it's not mascara, I rarely wear it.

I just had one. They're no big deal. Yes, replace your eye make up so you don't spread it to the other eye.
Use hot compresses (or even better, run a q-tip under HOT water and apply that to the stye) several times a day.
It'll be gone in a few days.

Q for you... when you did a compress, was your eye closed, or did you try to get it on the sty? I tried both, but keeping a compress in the inside of your lashline is NOT easy

I get styes for the following reasons:
1. Stress
2. Not washing my makeup off before bed
I don't bother throwing out my eye makeup unless it is old. If you want to be safe toss the mascara and sharpen your eye pencils.
You can get Stye ointment at the drugstrore and it should be gone in a few days.

I think I will throw out my MAC eyeliner. I've had it for a really long time (well over a yr)

So do I! I really have to stay off of there. Within the past year I have diagnosed myself with colon cancer, ALS, multiple sclerosis, hyperactive thyroid, gallbladder disease and perimenopause.
