I have a couple of what might be VERY dumb questions
Hi girls,
I just got back from my 2hr glucose test that the RE sent me for. I had one done about 7 or so yrs ago and I was borderline back then. Let's just say the tests come back that I am diabetic, do we still have to go for the glucose test again when I'm pregnant?? B/c at that point I already know I have diabetes
When you girls talk about "injectables" or medicated treatments etc, where exactly do you inject them? Is it in your stomach? arms? butt? thighs? I'm not sure what type of approach my RE will want to take (he's waiting for a bunch of other tests to come back) but I just want to be prepared!
Sorry those probably sound like ridiculous questions

I can't answer your first question, but in regards to the injectibles, some are subcutaneous and some are intramuscular. It depends what you are given.
If it is subQ- It is only skin deep- usually just in the belly. That is what I did- not sure if anyone did it anywhere else.
The IM ones are longer and thicker needles and go directly into the muscle. Usually your butt cheek or thigh. I did butt cheek all but 2 times when I was by myself and had to do my thigh because I couldn't get a good view of my arse

Thank you Jenny! I felt silly asking them b/c for some reason I figured they were obvious answers and I just wasn't getting it lol

I'm not sure about the first question. Is there a difference between non-gestational and gestational diabetes? Is there anything different you'd have to do?
as far as injectables.. ITA with everything Jen said!

I would imagine that if these results come back positive - you would just have to maintain a GD diet and/or meds if/when you get PG. You may or may not have to go for another test, but if you did you would probably go much sooner than normal (around 14 weeks).
As far as the injections - most of the stimulating drugs and lovenox are subq and are in the belly. Progesterone and HCG/Ovidrel or intramuscular and are given in the butt or thigh...I personally used the point and shoot method if I had to do intramuscular alone.
And those do not qualify as ridiculous questions!!
