I have a question about surrogacy..
Something I've been wondering and thought maybe you girls would know...
If a man and woman fertilize an egg and implant it into a surrogate - does that baby technically have 2 biological mothers or does the surrogate only grow the baby? I don't know the best way to word my question....

Re: I have a question about surrogacy..
The surrogate only carries the baby. The DNA and genes are from the original mother and Father, and really the surrogate is only givinf her "body" to have the baby grow in.

Re: I have a question about surrogacy..
Thanks - that's what I thought but how is it possible that none of the surrogates blood/dna transfer to the fetus?

Re: I have a question about surrogacy..
But legally, in many states it's different. Sometimes the woman whom the egg belongs to must adopt the baby from the surrogate and the surrogate must grant adoption. It varies from state to state.

Re: I have a question about surrogacy..
A friend of mine was born w/o a uturus, and had her SIL carry her twins. (biologically, they were the friend's and her DH). Under NYS law, they must adopt their own children. They've had home studies and everything!
