I have a question, its probably silly....
I am looking into a vacation to take during the 2nd trimester (though dr. said it was ok to travel now, I would rather wait)
I am a huge beach/sun buff and would love to go someplace tropical and just chill... can I lay out in the sun while PG? what sort of activities should I stay away from, and which ones can I do?? TIA

I read that you are supposed to stay out of the sun while pregnant, however, I always see preggos in the sun in the summer! So who knows.

you have to be careful of heat stroke and dehydration. i would ask my doctor about going into the sun, i know its not reccommended. as for activities probably only can swim, i wouldnt be getting up on water ski's or using a jet ski incase you get thrown off of it and something happens to the baby. but its your choice. i would just wait till after the baby so you can appreciate a vacation becuase you will probably need one.

I am going to Miami in a few weeks and I am about to start my 3rd trimester. My 9 month old neice will be there so I'll probably be spending some time under the umbrella and be very careful to drink plenty of water.

oh yeah I would definitely not do any activities like that, I would never risk it, I am clumsy enough on 2 feet! I wasnt sure of the sun thing though so thank you for that info. No sense going to say aruba if I can be lazy by the pool all day! ok, so do any of you have non sun related vacation ideas?

How about a spa vacation? You just have to make sure they specialize in prenatal spa treatments. We're taking a few days next month and going to Atlantic City.

Use extra SPF. Pregnant women are suppose to be more susceptible to skin cancer.

Marie,,,we are going ona cruise in April..and my dr said it wont be problem. I just got back from Aruba and I saw 4 prego's in the sun...You just have to be more cautious and not stay in the sun as long as you would if you werent prego's...I am like you a SUN WORSHIPPER and I plan on spending my weekends at the beach during the summer and in the sun on our cruise..I will just also spend some time in the shade as well...

Re: I have a question, its probably silly....
No question is silly! I got pregnant early June and was on our boat this summer quite often. I made sure I stayed well hydrated, brought water and fresh fruit, and pretzels for the salt. And we didn't go out if it were too hot out. I say go for it and enjoy
Oddly enough I didn't feel ill when we were on the boat Something about the beach and the water
