I have a question re: the swing and exersaucer

My DS LOVES the swing and will ONLY nap if he's in it. He literally naps 2 - 4 hours in it. I know that's a long time, but he seems to need the sleep and won't nap in his crib yet (I'm working on it.) I see that he barely naps at daycare (maybe an hour the entire day - small catnaps here and there) and told them to put him in the swing and they looked at me like I was the worst mother in the world.

Also he's about 4 1/2 months old and seems to enjoy the exersaucer. We just started putting him in it this past week for about 10 - 15 minutes at a time. He has GREAT neck control and no issues holding his head up. I put a pillow under his feet so his feet aren't dangling.

My DS's daycare teacher said I'm doing damage to his back leaving him in the swing that long and also starting the exersaucer so young.

Any thoughts? I don't want to hurt him in anyway and just don't know. I haven't asked my ped.

If that were true (about causing damage to his back NONSENSE), then all 3 of my children should be hunched over in pain.

As moms, we have to do what works best for US and OUR children. Napping in the swing is not bad! And IMO, using the excersaucer at 4 (almost 5) months, is fine! In fact, I think it HELPS their neck control.

Rylan hated the swing but we used the jumperoo at 4 months and then bought an excersaucer. The excersaucer is his favorite...I let him stay in it as long as he wants...lol.

At that age - Jack was in the swing for hours! He would take great naps there!

We put him in the exercauser at the same time - as long as he has good neck control it's fine!
