...when you either don't know where you are going or have people in the car. This is the worst! It was so dark last night and I was coming off the LIE. I had to make a left, but it wasn't the left side that was near you; you have to cross the divider to make the left and I was yapping and I started to make my left on the WRONG side of the road! OMG...I was like, "Really, I am normally a good driver!" (No one was even on the other side...does that matter?!) If it's pitch-black and I don't really know where I am, I guess I do all sorts of stupid things I would never normally do!

I regularly find myself on the wrong side of the road. Very often when I come back to the states I have to put a post it note on the dashboard of my car saying "KEEP TO THE RIGHT"

that's not a stupid thing...seriously, sometimes the lighting is nonexistant and it's very hard to see!

Don't beat yourself up over it (not that you are) - but it's not stupid!

Thank God everyone's okay. Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: I have mentioned this before, but: doing stupid things driving

I had this happen when I picked up my DH and one of his soccer teammates at the airport. I had never met the guy before and he probably thought I was so ditzy based on my driving. We were on the highway and my DS was in the car and had to go to the bathroom. So off I get and then trying to get back to the highway, I swear you'd think I couldn't find my way out of a paper bag. I wasn't too familiar with the area but I did my best to follow what I thought would be the best route and I kept making it worse and worse. In the middle of the trip, I mindlessly belt out a song from my kids' Noggin channel (this guy doesn't have kids) and then when I tried to back out of his driveway after dropping him off, I back into the bushes. It was kind of funny but to laugh only made me look ditzier. And DH just left me hanging out to dry by finding it all so amusing. I am so not a ditzy driver and I generally have a very good directional instinct. (that's what I wanted to tell the guy next time I saw him but I had to force myself to let it go since it was 5 or 6 months late LOL)
