I have met the most wonderful people since DC was born....
After Cailen was born, I ran into an acquaintance at Stop and Shop. We exchanged numbers - I remember I was still on maternity leave. It was a few weeks later when we began hanging out, but we have been almost inseperable since. she is truly amazing. She has a 4 yr old son, and is divorced now, so she knows what it feels like to do things on your own.
She is a major runner, and she has this amazing treadmill. she knows how I am about my body since having baby, and told me I could use her treadmill anytime. Since I knew it was going to rain tonight, I took her up on her offer.
I got Cailen from daycare, and he fell asleep on the way home. He stayed asleep as I emptied the car, fed Stormy (I water down his food now because he can hardly eat, but thats all in the pet forum ) called daycare because they sent home in his bag someone else's bottle changed into workout clothes, made bottles, packed his diaper bag (I knew he'd fall asleep on the way home from there) loaded up the car with Cailen's bag, bouncy seat, toys - its like I'm going away for a weekend vaca by the time I load the car for a few hours, and headed over.
Then, I walk up her million and a half steps several times with Cailen and his entire arsenal. By the time I'm done, I'm drenched in sweat
She is hanging with her son and his little girlfriend (Sooo cute!) and told me to go in the room where the treadmill is, put on her ipod, and just be alone for a little bit. Cailen was still fast asleep in his car seat.
About 20 mins go by, I take off the ipod and I dont hear anything, but check anyway. His car seat was empty - he was in her arms on the couch, being fed his bottle.
This was the 1st time someone has just helped with Cailen without me asking first. She told me to go back inside and finish my workout.
When I came out, she had him fed, changed, and in one of her son's little t-shirts when he was a baby ( a black Sonic Youth T!) and he was on her bed, loving all the atention her son and little friend was giving him.
Know what I did?
I cried.
Its like all of a sudden, it hit me how overwhelmed I have been. That I have had little help. That I have been doing everything on my own for so long, I forgot what it was like for someone to just offer to take him for 30 mins so I can workout and just be by myself.
And she made me dinner.
While she was making dinner - get this - her son fed me grapes, and his little girlfriend massaged my shoulders! She must have told them to treat me well, and they did.
When I began eating, of course Cailen wanted his bottle again - he always wants to eat when he sees me eating. I automatically put my food down and started feeding him, as i always do. My friend just took the bottle out of my hand and handed me my plate. I swear I thought she was going to call the loony bin because I began crying again. I knew she understood, and I know I'm PMS, and I havent really had any time to even cry about being overwhelmed. I have been doing so much automatically, its like I forgot who I was before I was pregnant.
I cried all the way home, I just felt like someone gave me the most amazing gift.
But - I wanted to say that since I came on here, I have met so many wonderful, amazing angels. Its like God just blessed me with this beautiful little person, and then the floodgates opened and all these wonderful people came into my life. Starting with Barbara, Nrthshrgrl, who helped me find my home, to her mom (my landlord) who made me food when I came home and the week that Angelo was sick, to the ladies who supported me when I had m/s and various pregnancy complaints, to the ladies who went above and beyond by getting me those gift cards, the ladies who sent me coupons, formula, similac checks, thermometers - it goes on and on.
So, I just wanted to just thank the universe for every beautiful person i have met (and not "officially" met)
I know I am being exceedingly sappy tonight, but I am feeling so wonderful, i wanted to share it with everyone on here.
and to the moms that feel overwhelmed I promise it does get better and there are angels out there that will help you when you least expect it.

Re: I have met the most wonderful people since DC was born....
Oh - I forgot this part - she and her friend are coming over to my house while I am at work and "Mommy Mafia-ing" my house.
They said they do this for all new moms - they come and clean the house from top to bottom. I told her - trust me, you DON'T want to do that.
She said - trust me - i do.
There is no stopping her.
So tomorrow, I am coming home to a clean house!

That is so great. What a great friend. I am actually tearing up a little b/c I know the overwhelming feeling and sometimes it just feels great to have a friend "take over" with the baby and let you just take a little bit of time for yourself

And it took me weeks to get to this point. I know last month I would have stopped everything and just taken care of him because I felt bad about leting someone else do what was my responsibility as a mother.
I am learning breathing alone for a few minutes is ok.

Wow!! She truly is an angel. You are very lucky to have someone like that in your life. I am so jealous. I have not had a break for 8 months. DH travels most weeks all week and we live far from family & friends. I would kill for a night like you just had. It sounds like you deserve it.

Wow- you lucky girl. I would die to have a friend like that right now. I really miss having friends.
I know what you mean - I havent had a friend in a really long time...
I have a lot of acquainatnces, but very few close friends. It was fine when DH and I were together more, but I remember when I was pregnant, I would feel the baby kicking or moving. I wanted to pick the phone up to call someone, and I realized I had no one to call.
My best friend, who was on medication, finally took a deep plummet psychologically, and had to eventually be institutionalized. She was a very dear friend to me, and most of my pregnancy she was suffering. At 9 mts pregnant I had to take her to the hospital with her parents. But all through my pregnancy she was going downhill, so I had no one.
I remember thinking to myself - if I had to rely on just one person right now, who would it be?
I couldnt answer the question.
I havent seen this woman for 2 years before we ran into each other. I always knew she was a good mom, and really wanted her number so I could have another mom to talk to. Little did I know how wonderful a friend she'd become.

Oh Liza
It's so wonderful that fate brought this person back into your life.
I often think it was easier in a way when most women were SAHM because you always had support just next door or across the street. I know I am the only one in my area with children this young so thank God for my IL's.
