I have the previous owners mail...
Kind of annoying that she didn't do a great job of getting it forwarded. I have a bunch of her magazines. I had her email so I emailed her with an alterior motive- I made it sound like I cared about her mail but I really wanted some advice on the house. (just wanted to know how she cleaned the fancy tile in the master bath). So I told her we had the magazines and could forward them if she likes.
Well...there's a bunch. That's gonna be expensive. Is there a way to have the post office do it without me having to pay? Anyone know? TIA

Re: I have the previous owners mail...
any mail I get that I think might be inportant,,,,magazines, bank stuff, bills....I put no longer at this address and put it in the mailbox for the mailman to take.
just a note....CC offers and any other 3rd class mail will not be forwarded so yo might as well throw it away.

after 2.5 yrs i STILL get the previous owners mail. not only their mail but their parents as well . i have left numerous notes for the mailman, spoke with the post office and even went as far as delivering the mail to their new house. at this point, i just throw it ALL away.

Same here.. if I think something might be important, I put it back in the mailbox stating they moved in August of 2005.

This is what we do. We actually had a xmas card sent here for the owner before the owner we bought it from! we just marked it as "Person no longer resides at address."

Re: I have the previous owners mail...
It might not be the previous owner fault.
I submitted THREE request from my previous address after I moved. NOTHING was done. The post office just did not care. I had to leave a note on the new renters door to keep my mail and left my cell phone number.
It's ILLEGAL to trash someone else mail. I keep what does not belong to me and leave it in the mailbox with "no longer at this address".

I understand. That's still illegal to trash someone else mail. The Post Office is part of the Federal Gov. Just like it's illegal to put anything in someone's mailbox that has not been processed by the Post Office. Of course you do what you want! Just wanted to let you know it was illegal.

Re: I have the previous owners mail...
Magazines take awhile to process the address change.
On stuff that looks important, I just write PLEASE FORWARD on it with their address. Not sure if it works, but I haven't gotten one of those pcs back.
My old address gets still gets tons of my mail and it's been 9 months. My grandma lives next door and she gets it for me but 99.9% of it is junk mail.

I feel the same way. We get personal stuff (cards from friends/family) in the mail. You would think after all this time, they would have the correct address. I do not trash things like that, I just stick it in the mail box and write on the envelope, no longer lives at this address. I also get what look to be credit card and cell phone bills. After 2.5 years, the previous owners should change their address with their creditors.

ok, i feel bad now. however, this is not a once in awhile occurrence, this happens DAILY. yesterday, i received 5 pieces of mail and 4 were addressed to the previous owners.
i will make one more attempt at the post office to try and rectify this annoying issue.

Re: I have the previous owners mail...
I still get mail from the previous owners 4 1/2 years later, I just put it back in the mailbox and the mailman takes it. I dont see why he wouldn't with whatever you are receiving as well. We even get a monthly dept store bill from a previous owner. I assume it's a bill since we get one every month and I know what one looks like from the envelope. Isn't she looking for her bill? I find it strange. I wouldn't foot the bill of forwarding someone's magazines unless it was a friend or family member.

Re: I have the previous owners mail...
4 years here and still get mail for the previous owners including some of their christmas cards. Obviously these people didn't mean much to them since it's been almost 4 years. It's annoying but it's not entirely their fault either.

Re: I have the previous owners mail...
when this happened to me, I brought it all back to the post office and told them they didn't live there anymore.
