I have to vent a minute....

Ok, so now I am on CD 13 and my follies are 16 and 18 on one side 16 and 12 on the other. Now, I know people here arent that thrilled with EC but I have to admit, I now have a great repoire with the nurses there and they are now a lot better than the first time, but now I am dealing with the Setauket office not Plainview.

OK, so here's my gripe and its not their fault. I am tired of being a human pin cushion (can you tell this is my first month with them?) and I am a planner so I just got a phone call that I have to go back again tomorrow and that my IUIs (they are doing 2) are going to be Thurs/Fri or Fri/Sat. I know they cant control when my follies hit 20 but I just had to take 2 days off from work because it "may be" Thurs/Fri and I have to give a heads up to my boss.

Sorry, I just had to vent. I wish men had to go thru half this sh**.

ETA: Diane corrected me, so I cant blame them at all.

ETA: As of right now, I am still not doing the IUI tomorrow, this might change when they get the blood results, but now the earliest is Fri/Sat maybe Sat/Sun.

No, it is NOT their fault, they also go by your blood levels as well. This is the process, you just haveto wait for the phone call and they tell you when to come in.
I LOVE the people at Setauket. I have had nothing but GREAt experineces with them. My only gripe is theri billing department, but that is NOTHING compared to the WONDEFUL care I received. Best of luck with your IUIChat Icon Chat Icon

Re: I have to vent a minute....

Thank you Diane. I am so new to all of this and I really need my vacation next month. I love the Setauket office, Plainview on the other hand was ok, but not as friendly.

I fortunately, haven't had to deal with their billing dept (yet) they take my insurance and all I have to pay is the co-pays.

Re: I have to vent a minute....

I can completely relate.

I had to go in Friday and Saturday to get u/s and b/w done thinking that would be "it" both times and it wasn't either. In addition to being a human pincushion as well, it adds up on the costs!!

But I look at it this way - I would rather have to go in several times and get it done at the right time then go in on the wrong days.

This is exactly how I feel. The closer they monitor you the better!

Re: I have to vent a minute....

I know how you feel. I remember in my 4th cycle of IUI (not at EC because I live in NJ though Chat Icon ). I went everyday for 6 days...they took blood everyday and I had a sono. I was happy they were monitoring so closely...but to be honest, enough was enough. When that cycle failed, it hit me the hardest...I cried for 2 days.

DH thinking he is a super-hero, called the RE's office and yelled at the nurses, the doctor wanting to know why if I went everyday did the IUI fail. I think that's just mens way of dealing with things...they want to fix it and find the reason because it should be logical. I begged him not to call them because then I would be embarressed to go back. Anyway...my doctor asked us to come in for an office visit. He was very nice, listened to my DH rant for about 10 minutes Chat Icon and then proceed to tell us that no matter how much they monitor, the chance of conception is still only 10-15% per cycle.

During my 5th cycle...the doctor that DH yelled at didn't want to have anything to do with me (or maybe it was coincidence that he was never there when I was Chat Icon ). They handled me with kid gloves that cycle and that's the one that I got my BFP.

So...I know it's frustrating and it's hard somedays, but in the end, it will be worth it and you will forget how many times they pricked you for blood when they call you and tell you the results of the beta test. Good luck and baby dust to everyone.

Sorry this was so long Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: I have to vent a minute....

Well you could wind up like me -- EC did my IUI before I was even ovulating, and all I had awas a big cyst. So I am glad that at least they are waiting for the right time for you...!

I'm glad you are finally getting good care.

Is there anyway you can go in late to work instead of taking the entire day? It's very hard for me as a teacher... no flexible schedule at all but I've taken 1/2 days off in the morning for my IUI's. Just an idea to make it easier work wise.

it is very hard and sometimes feels like a job in and of itself. Hopefully after this you wont have to do it anymore!
