I just found out I will miscarry...
This is my first pregnancy and I just found out that I have a blighted ovum or an empty sac. Porbably due to chromisomal abnormalities, the embryo never grew. Now I have a choice.....I could wait for it to pass on its own or take medication to trigger it. I go back to the Dr on Tuesday to see what I will do, but I have questions!
If I do decide to take the medication, how long will it take to pass?
I'm nervous I'm going to keel over in my classroom with a bunch of middle school students and bleed out right in front of them!
I foudn out Wed night, and have been spotting a little and little pain since yesterday...I took 2 days because emotionally I just can't handle being around my students and co-workers!
I just want this to be over so I can move on and try again......

Re: I just found out I will miscarry...
So sorry for your loss.
I discovered the same situation at 8 weeks. I was scheduled for a D&C at around 9.5 weeks, but began to miscarry on my own a couple of days before that. When I called my doctor (this was over a weekend), she prescribed cytotec which I was to insert vaginally. It was supposed to move things along; although, as I said, a lot had started on its own. Before taking the medication I read the internet which was a BAD idea. I thought I was going to pass out from the pain, hemmorage (sp?) etc. It was not like that at all...pretty easy as things like that go, I suppose.
In the end it worked and when I went for my follow-up visit the doctor just needed to suction out the remaining "stuff" which wasn't fun, but it wasn't surgery, KWIM?
Hopefully it will happen on its own. If you decide to take the medication try to do it on the weekend just in case.
Best of luck to you...

Re: I just found out I will miscarry...
Thank you! I am not realy in any pain, just light cramping, but took some tylenol. The spotting is getting heavier, still brownish, but more of it and more mucus too. I'm hoping it will just happen this weekend, I really would like it to happen naturally!
Other than the chromosomal abnormality, are there any other reasons this would occur if I have always had normal periods and paps? I know this was not meant to be but I keep looking for answers! I don't think I could go through this if it should happen a 2nd time!

I am presently miscarrying. It started at the end of last week. I've been bleeding for 9 days so far. In the beginning it was brown spotting, then pink and then red. During the course of the week, my Dr did a sono, and had my betas taken 48 hours apart to confirm that my levels were dropping- this is why a D&C hasn't been discussed yet.
I go back for another sono on Monday to see how everything is progressing. Once we see, we'll decide what course of action to take.
I have read that some m/c can be painful, however, mine has really just felt like a bad period so far. I don't know if it's related to the fact that I wasn't very far along or if it's just simply that every experience is going to be different.
