I just heard the craziest thing

A co-worker of mine just told me I shouldn't get pedicures because it can bring on labor when they message my feet

Did you ever hear such a thing? I can understand getting a back rub for someone who is far in their pregnancy which can bring on labor but a pedicure for someone who is 2 months preggo's?

Please correct me if I'm wrong.

and I wanted to add that I went for a prenatal massage, and they didn't do anything with my feet or arms.

A pedicare won;t do it to you but a acupunturist could.
They know the exact spot to go for. In fact, that's why girls get acupuncture when they are past their due date and anxious.

Peds are fine and very relaxing for a pg women!!!

I'm almost 5 months pregnant and have been getting pedicures and nothing has happened. But they are gentler than they used to be..so maybe they know they have to be.

I would not get pedicures while PG just because I was scared that I would get an infection from the tub thing or tools. I was soo paranoid.

I have heard that and was told to tell whoever was doing it to tell them that I was preggo

I heard that too, but I got predicures my whole pregnancy with Julia and it didn't bring on anything--lol

Very interesting. I never heard of this but it's definitely good to know. At my next pedicure appt. maybe I should tell the girl I am pg?

Accupuncture will not a pedicure. I had them when pregnant. you are not able to get prenatal massages until you are out of your 1st trimester. I learned this when I denied one at the spa I regular. I had a few massages when pregnant with my daughter and never had contractions come on. I was uncomfortable after one, but the day was ajmmed packed with activities and then a party in the evening so I think that is what did it.ETA: when you get a prenatal massage you are normally asked what is bothering you and they focus mainly on that. It's a bit different than a regular swedish massage.

i got pedis, but i what i was told was not to shave before having b/c you can get an infection.

I am in my 8th month and I have gotten pedicures with no problems. I probably havent gotten one in a few weeks but didnt have issues before that. I wouldnt be too concerned at 2 months.

Dh bought me a spa package for my b-day and they did the prenatal massage, but refused to do reflexology for that reason. He told them I was PG when he bought the package and specifically bought a prenatal massage, so it totally ****** me off when they accepted the appointment and then refused to do it the day I showed up.

I have heard that also. I know my friends stopped getting the massages late in their pregnancies. For me at 21 weeks, I am loving them at the moment!

Wow I never heard of that. Even in the early months

I could understand that someone would be worried about an infection, but just go to a reputable place.

I know I could use one - I pedi's

yes I heard that, apparently there are pressure points in your feet.

Also don't cut your cuticles because that can lead to infections.

my doctor told me to go get pedicures! she is all about sticking to your normal routine...besides the drinking and smoking

My doctor told me to go for the mani's and pedi's too.... It's something very relaxing for you as a pg lady!

I remember I got a pedicure on my due date. It didn't bring on anything!

i heard that too but i got a pedicure every 2 weeks with my first and she was 2 days late. also got a prenatal massage and they wouldnt massage below the knees.
