I just received a UPS overnight envelope with a check
I have no idea who this person is. The check is written to my married name and spelled correctly. Then with the check is an orage piece of paper with instructions on what to do with the check. It basically says to deposit it and then wire it back  . The check feels fake but their are check printing programs and I have used them so they could have gotten a cheaper quality. Although the ink looks the same on the routing number and the parts that is printed on top (the rounting and account number is magnatic ink). The bank is an actual bank but I can't info on the senders company. I obvisouly know not to do anything with the check but this is freaking me out. Why would someone send this?

I would go to the bank and let them verify that its a good check before you do anything with it

Something sounds fishy. I would NOT put it in your acct. Take it to the bank and have them verify it first.

"Wire it back"? Does that mean that they want you to cash the check they gave you, then send the same amount back to them? If that's the case, it's absolutely a scam.

One of the girls on LIW did this and lost ALOT of money. It a scam and ILLEGAL. I would report it, then rip it up and throw it away.

sounds like a scam, if it is too good to be true.....
I would rip it up or shred it and discard it.

SCAM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It was just on the news like 3 days ago!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Call the authorities!
The bank will accept it but then when they go to get the money it bounces and you are charged and have lost all the money you wired!!!!!

It has to be a scam. I get checks like that all the time, when you cash it you're automatically enrolled in this great program and then you use the check $$ to pay dues later. 
But if there's a chance it's legit take it to your bank for verification, you never know!! You have nothing to lose by asking!!

This sounds like a crazy email scam I received last week - accept some funds and spilt the proceeds from some person that died with the same last name as me.
Is there shipper information on the package?

Well it is definitly a scam (I figured it was). I spoke to one of my good friends who is in banking and he said I am the second person he knows that this happened to in the last 2 weeks. Apparently they try and get you to deposit the money and then when the funds clear they have your account info and routing number of your bank when it clears. Then they go into your bank account and clean it out. He told me I should contact the local FBI office so I did and they said throw it out. They get so many call every day about it and didn't seem to want any of the information since I didn't do anything with the check which I thought was odd.
So becareful. They are coming through emails, regular mail and now UPS.
