I knew it would happen sooner or later.....small update!
I got laid off today  after surviving 4 rounds of previous layoffs, I didn't see it coming at all......someone slipped and sent me an e-mail they meant to send to my boss (saying I had arrived at work, since my boss, er ex-boss, is in another office).....so that was my only clue this morning, and it sent me in to panic mode!!
I've been working full time for 10 years, I feel kind of lost right now. I'm really trying to put a positive spin on this and think that maybe this will lead to a better opportunity down the road, at least I hope it will! thanks for letting me vent!
**small update: I have a job prospect from a former colleague. He moved on to North Carolina, but the company has a home office in NYC too....it's similar to the work I was just doing, but they have a hiring freeze until Jan. 1st. I don't know any particulars yet since I've only sent him my resume today, but please keep your fingers crossed for me!! the only bad part is that its also in the Financial industry which is where I just came from!

awww i am sorry to hear that, but you are absolutely right, there is definitely going to be something better down the road. I am assuming you can collect umemployment, if you can, maybe you can just relax and enjoy the holiday and start looking in Jan

I'm so sorry to hear this. Getting laid off is tough.. Getting laud off around this time of year is just downright horrible. They couldn't wait until after the holidays? I'm so sorry.
