I know imitation is the highest form of flattery, but

Come on now! Chat Icon

I had my wedding on the last Sunday in October.

My friend's wedding is today - the last Sunday in October.

I had a Sunday afternoon wedding.

The wedding today is in the afternoon.

My theme was a "fall wedding" with lots of fall leaves, and the bouquets being red, orange, yellow and brown.

Her theme is a "fall wedding" with lots of fall elaves, and the bouquets being red, orange, yellow and brown.

DH picked out for me the most gorgeous ring - the Lucinda X-post tiffany setting.

My friend picked out for herself the most gorgeous ring - the Lucinda x-Post tiffany setting.

We went to the Swiss Alps, on an absolutely mind-blowing, breathtaking ski vacation for 10 days after we got engaged.

She and her DH decided to go to the Swiss Alps, on an absolutely mind-blowing, breathtaking ski vacation for 10 days for their honeymoon.

For my bridesmaids, one of my gifts was a goldish/yellow pashimina to match the bouquets.

Last night, my friend gave us our bridesmaid gifts - take a WILD guess what it was??? Chat Icon

Though, I can't complian too much - it's kind of nice feeling like I'm re-living my wedding on my 3rd anniversary Chat Icon And, at least she didn't steal my costume party rehearsal dinner idea! Chat Icon I guess she wasn't brave enough to cross that line Chat Icon

Yeah, and did I mention that the venue she chose is less than a mile away from my house, and so her entire bridal party is arriving at my house in about an hour to spend 4 hours getting ready and taking pictures? Chat Icon

Re: I know imitation is the highest form of flattery, but

There is nothing worse then a copy cat. You did your own personal touches for YOUR day, not hers. I know somehow/somewhere you are supposed to be flattered, but it's hard to do when someone is literally copying everything you do.

I wonder where she will buy her house? Better make sure none of your neighbors are moving any time soon Chat Icon

I wouldn't think so much about it, but take heart in knowing that others will notice her wedding was a copy cat of yours and talk about her behind her back!!!!Chat Icon Chat Icon Have a great time today!

I agree. Some of the things you mentioned wouldn't bother me at all if my friend copied, like the fall/color theme and timing of the wedding. I actually got a ring similar, although not exactly the same, as a friend of mine without even realizing it. I love my setting, why shouldn't I have it just because she has something similar? We definitely have very similar styles in general anyway and we've laughed about it.

Well, taken all together, it is a bit odd of your friend. But like the pp said, don't let it bother you. Your wedding was first and if it's that obvious, she's the one that will look silly.

I agree except for the ring part. If she liked the ring THAT much, then she is lucky that she is able to get exactly what she wanted. The rest is just weird.

Re: I know imitation is the highest form of flattery, but

Up until the Swiss Alps I was like, "ummm, those are all really common choices, can't really call her a copycat..." but then it got weird. I think some people just know they are not creative or don't want to do the research involved in carrying out new ideas, so they follow a path already paved. I'd just be flattered and move on.

Ok, ok, let me redact a little here - she IS truly one of my CLOSEST friends ever, so I'm really not offended - most of it I just laughed, and really did take it as the utmost flattery.

But, when we got home, DH closed the door behind us and was like WTH?? That was OUR wedding!! Chat Icon Chat Icon

Here are some pics of us having some fun:

That's a little too much to be copying from one wedding to another. Did she ask how many times you & DH did it on your HM so they can do it the same amount of times too? Chat Icon
