I know terrorism center around fear but I am nervous now the Saddam has been hanged!
Anyone else feel this way? Its awful to live in fear but some people are really extreme

IMO he deserves a horrible death.....but I wish that could have just left him in jail to rot only because of the possible ramifications of a public hanging

I don't think that something "happening" is EVER out of the realm of possibility, however, I would imagine that the gov't has thought of that and I would hope is ontop of it.

I thought about this but on the news they said that anything major was unlikely b/c they were worried about the same thing when he was captured and then again during the trial... and nothing "major" happened then so they said they don't think it will now either. One of the reasons they mentioned is b/c it has been a few years now and that people really aren't supporting him-- apparently, even by the few "followers" he had- they, at this point, don't give a damn about him anymore... That's what they kept saying on the News at least. I'm pretty confident in that.

Me too. I was at my dads when we heard the news and my 10 year old brother said it was "freaking him out" as well.

I agree. I think it might a little scary now to travel abroad...I'm flying domestically during January for work, one trip to CA, LAX....I am sure we'll be safe.

The possibility of an act of terrorism happening in his name is always an option...The fact is that extremists exist, they always have and always will, this is something that will never change.
Look at history, people have been waging wars in the name of god, allah, budda, jesus or any known deity since the beginning of time. Think about it, the crusades were "religious wars", heck most wars are in the name of someone, so there is definately a possibility that a few radical idiots will get together and try to conjure up something because saddam was someone they believed in and there is not a thing we can do about it.
What bothers me most is that none of us americans cared or even gave a second thought to these possibilities 7 years ago. Why? because there had never been an attack or event on American soil before 9/11. Now all of a sudden everyone is worried when this has been going on for decades all around the globe but no one cared because it didn't directly effect the US.
It took a tradgedy with that magnitude to make us all open our eyes and realize that not everyone wakes up in a world like ours everyday.
Fearing and worrying about these possible occurances is a normal but something we need to accept is that this is the world in which we live now. It is forever changed and will never be what it once was, we are no longer a peaceful society, we are no longer immune to the effects of terrorism or global issues...this has now become part of what we know and what our children now face as their future will most likely be much worse.

I am more fearful for those in theater than for us here. That is why additional troops have been sent and more are being planned.

Honestly, I'm not worried. And I'm a worry wort. But I feel that the atrocities he did ****** off more people than inspired. I think what we need to worry about are the younger kids who looked up to him. They are the ones to fear 20 years from now.

This whole hanging makes me very uneasy.
I realize what a terrible person Saddam was and all the anguish and terror that he caused, but I'm uneasy about this "eye for an eye" stuff we're doing now. It seems extremely medieval to me...
I, too, will be avoiding the TV all day today.
