I know this is weird, but has anyone given their an infant a buzz cut?
So, DD was born with a ton of hair. Over the last month she lost a lot of it which is normal, but seh looks like an old man now! The top is really thin and then there is a tuft of hair in the back.
I was thinking about having it all buzzed off so it can have a fresh start.
Has anyone done this? Am I crazy?
BEFORE - nice and thick:
NOW - thinning old man hair:

It will grow in, give it time. DS's hair was the same way. At least with a girl you can put cute bows and headbands in

We buzzed lucas's mullet lol (I trimmed the long pieces of hair in the front and we buzzed under his bald spot on the back of his head bc he had a horrible mullet haha)

I know in many Asian cultures they do buzz their baby girls hair, my friend who is Indian gave her little girl a shaved head because they believe that if you shave their head, their hair will grow back thicker! Dunno if its true though

A friend of mine did it with her DS at about 3 months. Was cute for awhile, and to be honest, it grew back in even thicker!!!!

Yes, two different Korean women suggested this to me.
I didn't do it however.

My MIL swears it will make their hair grow quicker and in my day care when DD's hair was growing in a million different places they kept telling me stories of people who shaved their kids heads...
It's not something I ever would have considered unless you told me it would eliminate some of E's cowlicks (digressing sorry), but A's young enough to get away with it - which won't be true for long - so if it bothers you that much then go for it.

Get her some hats and headbands...I'd leave it alone. Don't get me wrong...I'd be thinking the same thing you are

I always think about it with Xavier. His hair is so out of control in the front and back but now has a balding stripe of hair going from temple to temple. I'm to scared though...lol.

Ive had several clients who have buzzed their infants heads. It is common in their culture...
DS had a crew cut at 7 months b/c he had Donald Trumps hair. He's had the same haircut since....

We did this. Partly for cultural reasons, but also for religious reasons. I felt bad that DD turned into a little baldy, but it grew back nicely in no time!

ahaha give it some time. Nina had a mohawk for the longest time after her baby hair fell out. Luke had a mullet and I did cut that off though.

I buzzed my son's head when he was around a month old... he looked like an old man!
ETA: I did it myself.

DH gave DS a trim on the sides with the buzzer when he was about 3 months old. I think it looked a lot better after....

Re: I know this is weird, but has anyone given their an infant a buzz cut?
Yes...I gave DD a buzz at one month old. My parents grew up in Argentina and before the baby leaves the hospital there...the nurses shave the baby's hair off (if the parents want to) because they say that it grows in thicker.
It was done to me, my brother and my cousins...we all have awesome hair.
I decided to do it because my husband and all his family have VERY thin hair. Soooo....I decided to just do it and I am so happy I did! DD looked so freaking cute.
I have to warn you....her hair has grown in rather funky! So just because you buzz it...it does not mean it will grow in evenly.
Let me look for pics!
BTW....DD slept through the whole thing!
ETA Pics:
Pic 1-She was 1 month old...born with a ton of hair
Pic 2- Buzzed it off
Pic 3 & 4-Growing in funky....she has a mop of hair in the front....and barely any hair in the back and sides Image Attachment(s):

Re: I know this is weird, but has anyone given their an infant a buzz cut?
my DD is a little over 5 months and also has hair similar. She was born with a ton and then it started falling out, so its thinner on the way top, but she has a cowlick that tends to make her hair stick up ina little wave/bump toward the top/back. I just put little bows and headbands in her hair. I cant bring myself to do anything to make it more even. We did trim it last month around the sides and the back as she had a mullet thing going on in the back and looked like she was getting pais on the sides (I am jewish). It looked better after we did that.

My friend's mom buzzed ALL her kids hair when they were babies, boys and girls. They are hard core Italians and they believed it would help the hair grow in thicker.
I actually thought about doing it for that fact!

DH's cousin is half Japanese and she did this with her daughter around Alexandra's age. I thought she was off her rocker because I had never heard of it but I guess it's common. I cant really tell if it made a difference though
