I know this was posted, but please humor me-1st Birthday Locations Eastern Suffolk
I really need to get in gear and the post today about March-April-May babies made me realize this.
We are in the Port Jefferson area. We have about 50 people and I want to keep this as inexpensive as possible.
Can people recommend either restaurants, VFW halls, anything that they know prices of so I can start to figure this out? We are debating whether we are better just doing this buffet style in a restaurant or making everything ourselves and renting a VFW or something else.
We are looking to spend as little as possible and the place that is the least expensive wins! 
I am going to make a invite list tonight and if I have to cut to make the party cheaper I am ready to do that.

I think Tara had posted of a VFW (or similar) place in Suffolk that had a very reasonable rental fee. Then you could make your own food or cater it from an affordable place.
We are renting a small place (where they did my baby shower and DS' Christening). Nothing fancy AT ALL. We will probably have it catered from a restaurant because I think cooking myself will stress me out way too much (I'm going to do a lot of DIY stuff for the party and my niece's birthday and party is the day before DS'!).

I need this info as well! I called a bunch of places today and they were all so far out of our price range  Right now it looks like Charlie is not having a party bc we can hardly fit the five of us in our house - we wont even be able to have a small family gathering....

Polish American center... ( Port Jeff station) next to Terryville fire dept. We are having our DD 1st birthday there...it is really nice inside and out... The fee to rent is $680... Hope this helps!!!

Heritage Center in Mount Sinai. I have had two parties there and been a guest at another. It is a great space. You bring in your own food (we had catered food delivered) and pay by the hour. Love it there!

Thank you! That is a little too steep for us. But you saved me the phone call! I wonder if the fire dept rents out their room. I went to a Sweet 16 there once.

Do you like chinese food? If so Tangerine on Nesconset Highway (across from Carnival) works out to be about $10 a person and I am pretty sure they will let you have the whole place (depending on what time of day). Carnival is where we had DS' baptism. It was $30 p/p (without beer/wine) but with unlimited soda. We just put carafes of wine on the table and if someone wanted something we just had a tab. J&Rs was the lowest (aside from tangerine) but once I started adding alcohol it wasnt that cheap (in relation to Carnival which was more my benchmark for quality and what my family would expect in terms of food). I considered Setauket Pasteria which was less expensive then Carnival and they had a buffet option. HTHs

We had ti's first birthday party at a VFW in Sayville. It's a really nice one. I think it may have been around $400-450 to rent.
But I like the hibachi idea too that someone above mentioned.

We are having DS's first birthday party at the Heritage Center in Mt. Sinai. I believe it is about $80 an hour.
