I love being home but I feel lonely....
I've been home since January with my 2 year old, then we had our second son who is 6 months old. We do the playground thing, McDonald's thing, etc. My DH works a lot (out by 6:30am - home by 9:30pm) and I feel really lonely. I have wonderful friends that I luckily get to see from time to time.
How do you meet other moms? It seems like everyone already has a buddy at the playground and elsewhere and they don't need more friends.

Are there any babygroups or playgroups near you? They were a lifesaver for me when I was on mat leave, its where I met all of my big group of Yummy Mummy friends.
eta...if you meet someone and have a little chat with them, don't be afraid to ask for their phone number, or their email address. If you miss the chance, you could miss the chance!!

I totally understand. Even though I work FT I don't have any family nearby and my friends are all over - pretty much anywhere but here. My DH is also rarely home but on weekends.
I found meetup.com to be a great resource and way to meet other moms. There are so many different groups for you to choose from depending on your situation and interests. I work FT and don't get to actually use it much, but the times I have were great.
I don't live in LI but fm me if you have have any questions.

i agree.. my dh also leaves here around 7-8 am and doesnt come home until well after 10pm.
i hate it. im always out and about but really hate doing it myself... im always looking for more mommy and kid friends..
my boys are also 2!!

I am up for playdates too! My DH works crazy hours and most of my friends don't have kids yet! So it is just me and DS a lot. I take him out and about a lot but sometimes I wish I had other Mommy/kids to go with!

I know how you feel. There was a Mommy and Me group we went to in the spring, and I met some moms there. I'm not best friends with anyone, but I do get together with a couple of them from time to time. Our library also has a New Parent's Group which I'm starting in the Fall. I'd check out the library and see if they have anything for babies or new parents.
Sometimes I think I miss the daily contact with adults that you get through work, though I love spending the day with DS otherwise. Nothing is perfect!
