I need an author

I really like reading, but I read a hodgepodge of things. I love Stephen King, but I'm looking to get into another author that has a series of books and not just one or two popular books.

I like fantasy and sci fi, but so does my husband, so he can recommend authors for that.

I also like murder mystery stories, but never know anyone good. Who are some good mystery authors?

I also like kind of smart, girly stories as well. I read sex and the city by candice bushnell, but I don't know if her other books are good.

Thanks! Chat Icon

Re: I need an author

For mysteries, I love James Patterson and Mary Higgins Clark

I enjoy Candace Bushnell - Trading Up and 4 Blondes were good. I am reading Lipstick Jungle now.

Jane Green has lots of great books out there too

Re: I need an author

i LOVE the Janet Evanovich books... she has a whole series of books about Stephanie Plum who is a bounty hunter... they are mysteries but are totally hysterical sometimes! The first one is One for the Money, then Two for the Dough and it goes up from there...she is up to #12... then she has another series as well about a different character...

Re: I need an author

I've always liked Sidney Sheldon for those girly reads-he's great. I read all of his books so I haven't read anything in a while. As others said Dean Koontz-have you read any Jodi Picoult? She's a good writer-some of her books are better than others-I loved My sisters keeper and Keeping Faith

Another good one is Sue Grafton. She has the alphabet series (A is for Alibi, B is for Burglar, etc). She's pretty funny, too!

This is none of the categories you mentioned, but two authors I really love are Tom Robbins and John Irving

My Sister-In-Law recommended these books to me and I am addicted!! I found myself laughing out loud on the train.

I also LOVE Carl Haissen.

Usually I read Dean Koontz or Stephen King.

Jennifer Wienner. She has a few girlie books out there... she actually wrote In Her Shoes.
her other books are Little Earthquakes and Good In Bed. There's another one, I just can't remember the name of it. I've read them all and they're all great reads!
