I need help with a sticky situation please...

I am going to make this short, my best friend and I do real estate together (we've been doing this for about 2yrs), and for a variety of reasons I dont want to work with her anymore. I am not saying I dont want to be friends nor am I saying we cant help each other, but when it comes to advertising, mailings and generally running our business I want to be on my own.

To further complicate this, we formed a corporation to which my acct/financial advisor is ticked at me because I can get more write offs if I wasnt part of this corp.

Now, my problem is this. How do I tell her? I know she is going to be hurt, and that is not my intention, I just want to try it on my own.

I think you need to tell you just what you wrote (minus the variety of reasons). That your accountant told you that you can get more deductions if you were to do it yourself. You loved working with her but financially it's more beneficial for you to hang out your own shingle. Have the info on dissolving the corporation handy when you do it.

I think this really says it nicely. Talk to her and tell her she did nothing wrong, and that you understand she'll be hurt, but that you have to try this on your own. Hurting your best friend is bad, but not persuing your goals and dreams are even worse. She should understand and may give her the jump to achieve the same. Chat Icon

I agree with this.
