I need help with choosing a new car seat because the one I picked is discontinued
from my BRU registry...
this is the one I originally picked..INFANT SAFESEAT STEP 1 CAR SEAT - FRENCH ROAST
I got an email from them saying its discontinued So annoying because I picked it out in person...
So basically I registered for the Graco version of the Snap'n'Go, so I need a Graco infant car seat that is not too heavy....
can someone tell me what the name is of the one I should get? And then I can pick a neutral colored one (cause we're team )
Thanks!

The Gracos that are currently getting good ratings and are at BRU are the Graco Snugride and the Graco Snugride 32. The difference is the 32... holds up to 32 pounds and is also a little heavier and bulkier than the regular Snugride which some girls on here have mentioned to not be a perk. Also, it's very likely you're baby will have moved on to a convertible car seat by the time they reach 32 pounds.
You can also consider the Graco travel systems which have a wider range of patterns to choose from and I believe most are the Snugride car seat (just not sold separately). Still using the light weight stroller frame and save the bigger stroller for later.
I was originally looking at the Snugride however it kind of came in a girl or boy pattern, only the boy one would have been "neutral". In the end, after all my research and hands on testing and checking, I went with the Chicco Keyfit 30 and switched the Graco stroller frame to the Baby Trend Snap n Go.
My best advice would be to definitely go see and feel them in person. Things that look pretty online can be a whole different story in person. Same for the reverse, things that look blah are actually great quality!
Good luck!

Just went to check... Now that I see the safeseat that you picked... I do believe that got good ratings as well and there is a Birkshire pattern that looks really pretty online and neutral. It does say online only but maybe you can find another store like BBB or Target who carries it so you can see it in person and still add it to your resistry. A lot of people do shop online these days and I'm sure you'll end up with gift cards and store credit if not.

The Graco snugride32 is the new name for the safe seat. We got the snugride 32 in lemongrass for the same issue with the french roast being discontinured. But you never know, even though they say it's discountinued online your local store may still have some in stock. I know it's been around for a while, my friend has one and her DS is now 18 months.

I agree with the pp that your best bet is to go to the store and look at the seat. If you were to choose the Snugride, just try to get the ones that adjust the harness straps from the front. Many of the travel systems come with the one that adjusts from the rear of the seat.
The Graco Sungride 32 is a new seat that allows for additional weight and is lighter and easier to manage than the Safeseat.
Many parents never used the Safeseat to its top weight because it became to heavy to use beyond 20 pounds.

This is the point htat I was going to make. Yes the Safeseat goes to a larger size, but honestly at 20lbs it gets VERY heavy and uncomfortable to try to luge the baby in that seat. I left DS in until he was at the MAX of the snugride and really I couldnt carry him more than the distance from the house to the car at that point.
If you go on parenting you will find that more often than not parents switch to the convertible car seat before their child hits the seat max for the infant carrier simply because it becomes to hard to deal with the carrier.

The pp makes the point wonderfully. When choosing an infant carrier, keep in mind the weight of the seat and the child. While the seats that go above the typical 22 pounds sounds like a bargain, you may find that you will not use the seat to its upper weight.
Keep in mind, buying an infant carrier that goes to a higher weight limit does not save money. You have to buy the next seat, most likely a convertible, anyway. There really is no wrong answer to your purchase, just the one that suits your need and ability the best.

Oh, this is a good point too. This is another reason why I preferred the Chicco Keyfit over the snugride. Adjusting the harness straps easily is a good thing to look for. The weight limits were the last thing if considered at all because I'm sure baby will be in the convertible long before 30/32 pounds.
