i need ideas - I have a two year old and am having a c-section

when i come home i am going to need to make easy dinners and probably won't go to the grocery store ( my husband probably won't go either). What kind of stuff should i stock up on. I know pasta and sauce but i am just at a loss right now. I am starting to feel overwhelmed.
TIA

A lot of women have said (I'm planning on doing this too) that they will freeze meals before having the baby. This way, they don't have to be tied down to the kitchen.

I find that having flattened boneless chicken breasts frozen at home is very helpful there is so much you can do with them in little to no time (cook on grill pan in short time) and you can make 1000 things with it. Chicken burgers, turkey burgers, chicken meatballs, all freeze easily and can be cooked really quickly.

Pasta, sauce, various pasta dishes like lasagna. Hamburgers.

What about going to something like Super Suppers and making ready-to-cook meals? Is that in the question? You can even package them into smaller portions so that if you don't need a whole huge tray you don't have to cook that much.

Also what about some make your own pizzas? They are good to use up leftover ingredients and sauce. Everyone can put bits of whatever is leftover or in the house on them, grilled chicken, veggies, meatballs, etc. and you can get ready-made pizza dough from your local pizza shop for really cheap.

I also agree with the chicken breasts. You can grill a big amt of them on the weekend or ahead of time and just use them in different ways. Wraps, salads, along side some veggies/rice, etc.

Good Luck!!

My mom & MIL did this for me with G (he was a planned c-section). They made everything from fish to meatloaf to steak and potatoes, etc. They made about 3 weeks worth of meals for me and all DH had to do was put them in a 350 oven.

chili-can make with biscuits, cornbread, on top of hot dogs or fries, on baked potatoes, on rice

grilled chicken cutlets or breaded (yes, I've frozen cooked chicken and it's fine!)
bagels
pancakes for dinner...you could easily cook some sausage or bacon or eggs to go with it.
cheese blocks/slices
baked ziti freezes well
meatloaf and meatballs...I freeze my meatballs seperate from the sauce if I make a big batch and sometimes the kids get them with mac n cheese
beans (as in rice and beans)

I have a great book by super suppers where you prepare the meal and freeze it. I'd be glade to e-mail you some recipes--it's got everything from entrees to desserts to side dishes.
