I need opinions please...(eta)
My dh and I live in a cottage (re-doing it) and our livingroom is only 11 x 16, so we cant have huge furniture.
He wants to get a very nice tv credenza and I want an armoire. The only reason I dont want a credenza is because I think the look of a tv not boxed in just sitting on top of something (no matter how nice it is) looks unfinished. My dh says since we are selling this house next year to do this and save our money for the new house and then we can buy a really nice wall unit since most likely we will be buying a bigger house. What would you do? And if I do the tv credenza can you recommend ways so it wont look so unfinished.
Thanks.
ETA: Thank you. I convinced him to get the armoire. It only took all your opinions (thank you), about 12 stores and threatening to take him shpping again.

Re: I need opinions please...
I am an armoire fan so I cannot help your DH. Even if you move, the nice thing about the armoire is that you can close it if you don't want the TV to be the focus of the room.

Re: I need opinions please...
when I lived in my townhouse I only had a living room (no family room) & I hated the tv showing so I bought an inexpensive(maybe $250) armoire from Furnikit...it was only pressboard but it looked great-my friend that has the best of everything thought it was drexel heritage when she first saw it Sometimes target has really nice looking inexpensive ones too...I'm sure when you move you'll find another use for it so it won't go to waste. Here's one from target that is great looking armoire

Re: I need opinions please...
we were able to find a relatively inexpensive tv cabinet/armiore at Ikea....so that way - you get the finished look without spending a lot of money

Re: I need opinions please...
since you are moving, i wouldn't spend a lot of money on a new tv unit. do you have a flat panel tv? if, so how about a bookcase? pottery barn sells a really nice bookcase for $700 plus tax and shipping. it is 42.5" wide x 16.5" deep x 67" high. you would have to remove a shelf and drill a hole for the cords but it is definetly a piece that you could use again not to mention, can be accessorized to "hide" the tv.

Re: I need opinions please...
My mom got a very inexpensive armoire from furn-a-kit and it looks great. I tried to find it online but coulsn't... next time I am there I will take a pic if you want. You have to put it together yourself though.
