I am starting to watch the amt of junk food that I am consuming. I used a girdle to shrink my belly after birth but what about toning? Did you have to do a million sit ups a day to acheive a nice belly again?

I'm wondering this too!

I just started Jillian Michael's 30 day shred... I did 2 days so far.

I still have about 10 lbs to lose to be happy.. and 12ish for my PP weight.

you can do all of the sit ups/exercise in the world, but without proper diet, you won't flatten it.. period. cut back on carbs.. if you MUST eat carbs, eat it earlier in the day to give your body ample time to burn off throughout the day.

Also, choose your carbs carefully. stay away from white starches. just by alternating white bread for whole grain, brown rice instead of brown, etc. it'll make a load of a difference.

Drink alot of water. I squeeze some lemon and drink it slightly warm, that gets rid of excess water...

if you exercise, do alot of cardio. it's not so much how long you do cardio, but what kind of workout you're getting in that time.

As for abs, I use an exercise ball and I love the small pilates ball. WOW that worksout my abs better than anything. I also use a good old school ab roller too and I do alot of side crunches and leg lifts and scissors.

GL!

I have that DVD too! Maybe I should try it? Chat Icon I used to be fit without having to work out before the baby & now I can't wear any of my old bottoms. I hate it! I think I'm going to get a trainer.

I was the SAME WAY!

I posted on diet... but I started a "challenge" thread ... you should join!

You gave me another idea too..

Maybe we can do a pedometer challenge?

Make small goals to eventually walk 10000 steps/day!

Running worked for me!!
Dieting is something that will never work for me. I am a picky eater.

I excercised like crazy post pardum, and ate very well. I had 2 destination weddings 3 months after having DD and I was determined! I ended upp doing the Isogenix cleanse. It is 11 days, and I only lasted 9. It was torture, but it worked - I was down to pre-baby weight after it!

I'm working on losing it now - after two babies.

I am doing Weight Watchers and also taking a bunch of classes (Zumba and Spin)

I have noticed my belly go down a bit, but I still have about 20lbs to go.

Weight Watchers is amazing though. I can really see now, how much I was supposed to be eating throughout the day, and I can tell you - I was taking in MUCH more than I needed to. It's all about portion control! Chat Icon

I really hate situps / crunches. so I busted my butt to tone my legs and arms, and did that thing at the gym where you hang from it and lift your legs. I could only do so many, like 3 sets of 10 but it totally worked!

lol, ok, I have a lot of questions.

Do you mean like the Bender Ball as a pilates ball? I think I have one at my parent's house. Damn, I told her to throw the ab roller away when I moved out of their house but I don't have room for it here anyway.

As far as carbs, I don't care for pasta so that's fine. I do like bread & started buying whole grain a few months ago.

What kinds of things do you recommend for dinner?

What do you eat before working out/ after working out?

TIA Chat Icon

Oh, I wanted to add that I don't really need to loose pounds, I just need to tone because I am "soft" but thin.

EXERCISE would be the key and watching your diet. My body is totally different after having DD but consistency in working out is the only thing that works for me.

I'm actually a SAHM for right now but can't do a thing when DS is napping other than wash dishes & bottles & maybe take a shower. And when DS is awake, Ihave to constantly carry him around. DH ls me run to the gym like 1 weeknight a week & then I try to go on Sat & Sun.

Good question. I am walking at least 1 1/2 miles 6 times a week and swimming at least 4 times a week (15 laps). I lost 42 so far. I need more ideas!

I tried couch to 5K but my knees are terrible so I am going to wait until I speak to my doctor and find decent running shoes.

I also cut all dairy due to DD. I hope that does something!

I am a a thin person, I always have been pre and post kids.
This is what I do(because I like it) I Love breakfast and lunch. So they are my 2 biggest meals and I have a small dinner and I have dinner by 5:00-5:30 usually. I try not to eat after that other than a glass of wineChat Icon

I have excersized on and off, but really, I am just a very active person, not a gym person.

Yup, the bender ball!

I don't eat before working out. I don't like to workout on a full stomach. it's something I've never done. Coffee is the only thing in my system. post workout, I usually eat a meal. I used to drink shakes but I'd rather eat an actual meal and get those same nutrients and mentally feel more satisfied, KWIM?

As for dinner, veggies and a protein.. I have a sweet tooth and I find that one way to curb that (in the winter) is with fat free hot chocolate.

Oh boy, If I don't eat before working out, I will pass out! Maybe I can have something light like toast with peanut butter & banana?

Re: I need to loose tha baby belly! Those who regained a flat belly after birth, do you have any tips?

you can't spot tone (ie just lose fate in one spot) but you can tone the area so when you do lost the fat there's something to show!

drink a lot of water to reduce bloating/swelling.

up the protein. if you're lacking, you'll look soft/poofy.

other than that it's the basics of watching what you eat and exercising.
