I need to organize my house starting with incoming bills, so where does everyone keep them?
I do pay everything online and the amounts are the same except for our Amex but I still like to have my bills and then shredd them when I pay it.
I am having a hard time getting organzied ever since we moved into our new home 6 months ago. Everything just get's thrown on our counter tops and then I just throw it in a draw and it is driving me crazy. My desk only has 2 draws and one has hanging files in it and the other one well thats the draw I dump everything in. The draw is deep though.
I can't wait to get this house together and get rid of all my boxes. So any suggestions out their?

What about setting up a Bills to Pay folder in the hanging file drawer? This way they at least have a home until you submit payment.

I have that too. My office is a disaster. I have gotten some of my vendors to send me e copies of bills instead of paper. It helps.

we put pending mail in a letter bin that goes on the wall..
for things that need to be filed, we bought a 2 drawer filing cabinet with a lock on it!

I have a letter shaped caddy on the computer desk that I put all incoming bills into. I pay all my bills in the middle of the month, some are a paid a little early. I find it easiest to sit down on a Saturday morning and pay everything in one shot and shred them as I go. I just pull them all out of the caddy and pay/shred.

I have a file cabinet so I can put all paperwork pertaining to certain item/service in a file. I have a "bill basket" on my desk so I know what bills need to be paid (so when we get a bill in the mail it immediately goes in the bill basket to be paid later). After it's been paid I file it.
When we get something in the mail that needs to be filed, we file it immediately. Junk mail gets tossed/shredded immediately. Nothing sits around for later.
I pay pretty much everything online also. Can you have companies send you e-bills instead of paper bills in the mail?

I have all of my bills in a bill holder. It's 2 tiered. In the front are all of the to be paid bills. Once a bill arrives, I write it down on the calendar and then I write the due date and amount due on the front of the envelope. Then I file it in the organizer according to due date. Once finished, I shred it. It keeps me very organized, I don't lose any bills and looks neat.

Ikea has great stuff for organizing. you can get a bin for your desk top for bills to be paid. we have a nice office cabinet from Ikea. the top is a big cabinet part with shelves for books, manuals, etc. the bottom is a huge hanging file drawer (lol i think its so funny you spelled it "draw" in your post... LI accent coming through ) i have a folder for each thing- one for my health insurance ( for any dr bills, info), one for each credit card i have, one for my checking statements, one for my svanigs statements, one for "work" with all my pay stubs, one for my student loan statements and info, etc, etc,etc.... i even have one for the dog wtih all his past vet bills and info it just makes it so nice when i need to find something i can just go right to a certain folder and its easy to find...

I have a big accordion file thing with a manilla folder for each bill. I also have a chart on the front of each folder to keep track of when it was paid.

We have a 2 draw file cabinet in our bedroom for now next to our computer and every bill has its own folder. It keeps me organized.

This may work for me b/c I still like to write things down instead of using the computer for everything.

I just have a folder with Bills to be Paid and I keep track of them in Quicken so it tells me when they are due otherwise I forget

I have a binder. In it are two folders and pages. In one folder are things that need action, such as bills paid and stuff like that. The other folder is almost like an envelope in that it has a flap. Anything that needs filing goes in there until one day, I feel like filing.
The papers are basically a table made in MS word that I can write down all e-payments and their confirmation numbers.
