I need to quit smoking
I am done. I am tired of this nasty habit. I had quit for 6 years and went back to smoking last Oct. Wedding stress got to me and I promised myself I would quit after..It's almost 3 months since my wedding and I still am a smoker. I know I can do it cold turkey..I don't believe I need a patch or anything.
For those that quit, what worked for you and are you still smoke free??

Re: I need to quit smoking
I haven't smoked since December 23, 2004! I had to quit b/c I was in the hospital but when I came home I refused to let myself go back to that nasy habit! I'm so glad now that my son will never see me smoke! And that helps! Good luck!

Re: I need to quit smoking
I quit August of 2001 after smoking for 15 years
I started with the patch, but it made me sick...
So, I just did it by myself
The first few weeks are the hardest of course
Good luck!!!

Re: I need to quit smoking
I quit cold turkey in June 2003. Since then I have had a total of maybe 10 cigarettes. I still miss it but completely lost the taste for it.
Good luck!! You did it once you'll do it again!

Re: I need to quit smoking
i quit cold turkey in august 06. like Lisa said- the first few weeks were the hardest, but it got significantly easier with time.
there are still trigger moments and last ditch efforts by the nicotine receptors in your brain to try to get you to go back (at 1 month, 3 months, 6 mos, 1 yr, 3 yrs and 5 yrs, i think).. but those arent too bad, imo, either because by this point i feel like 'i've already made it this far, just keep oing". i still get cravings here and there, but honestly, its not worth giving in to. its an absolutely disgusting habit and no good can come from it- so why even give it that opportunity!
good luck!!! we're here if you need help!! this board kept me so motivated... the ladies were such an awesome source of strength to do it!!
