Re: I need your prayers please
It sounds like your baby is doing great for a 27 weeker! 2 lbs is a great weight for that early and only needing the CPAP is wonderful.
DS was a 30 weeker (2lbs 15oz) and was on the ventilator in the beginning.
FM me if you want to chat. I know how scary this is for you.
Prayers that your baby keeps getting stronger and bigger so that he can come home where he belongs soon!!!

Just wanted to send and !! That's a great size too - my dd was 33 weeks and 3lbs 8oz so over 2lbs at 27weeks is really a good weight. And breathing well with just cpap is amazing for 27 weeks!! He sounds like he's doing phenomenal for his age; hang in there!! Fm if you want to chat!!
Thank you! He's a strong little boy & continues to amaze my husband & I every day. The doctors are really impressed with how he has been doing. Just hope he keeps it up!

Thank you! He really is doing wonderful! It makes me wonder what his birth weight would have been full term considering he was 2lbs at 27weeks GA. I was so relieved to hear is was only using a CPAP to breathe. I guess the steroid shots they gave me really worked.

I need your prayers please
My prayers are with you and your family. I have a friend who gave birth at 27 weeks. Her baby was born 1lb 4oz. He was in the NICU for 75 days. He just went for his monthly check up (he is 5.5 months) and is weighing in at 10lb 6oz. I was and still is a long road. The doctors told her that the best thing she did was sit by her baby's side EVERY DAY for those 75 days. She was there every day all day. Baby's know. Listen to your doctors. IDK what NICU you are in but I can tell you she was at Cohen's (LIJ) and she RAVES about them still.
Good luck!! There are a bunch of FB groups I know for premies. Get support and talk to people. It will help with your journey.
EDITED: Wanted to add my friends baby was the same way that he was only on the CPAP machine and was breathing on his own. That's a GREAT sign!!!

Thank you! I don't sit there all day (it would be too much for me) but I do try to go at least twice a day and I sit with him for a few hours each time I go. I talk to him, read him stories, and when I'm not there I always call to check in and tell the nurses to tell him I love him. I really do hope it makes a difference.

I also should have told you that DS is 24 lbs now at 18 months, talking up a storm and running all over my house. Your son will be ok.
What hospital are you at?

yes, it will make a difference and then you can see the different nurses on different shifts, that is what i did. My hospital I felt I was not welcome to stay longer than a few hours but i did what you are doing. my sister in law's premie was at a different hospital and she was able to stay all day all night. every one handles nicu days differently. take care of yourself during this time, thats important too. its so challenging. not sure if you are religious but two songs that kept me strong during nicu days was ' all of me' by matt hammitt and 'Blessings' by Laura Story

My hospital has the 24/7 policy but I know I'd wind up burning out if I stayed for hours on end. Trying to take care of myself, as well as remember I'm a wife too. It's been a lot to deal with. Thanks for the songs... I'll have to listen to them.
