I never vent about these things but I am fuming!

My office is shared. I have my own desk.

After I leave work, there are other staff members who might sit at my desk when I am not there. I have nothing valuable or personal at my desk other than pictures. Sometimes my items are a little messed up or moved around, but nothing major.

I broke the sole on a pair of boots Sunday night at work. I left them underneath my desk and wore flats home because it was raining. I figured I could try to get them repaired.

I came into work yesterday to find them IN MY GARBAGE CAN. I saw red. I do NOT want people taking it upon themselves to touch my belongings or throwing them in the garbage! I am seriously pizzed. Like, I'm ready to tell off the staff that was working that night. I'm also missing a stack of sticky notes I tuck beneath my monitor which had random bits of info and such. We do not have a regular cleaning crew that comes at night, so that's out. It had to have been a staff member.

Is this ridiculous or what?????

I work in a shared office too and it drives me nuts when people throw ANY garbage in my garbage can (and they usually do it when there's no garbage bag in there), so I can only imagine how you feel!!

Is there an office manager? I'd ask him/her to send a discrete email out to all employees discussing the respect people shoudl have for other properties which include: throwing other people's stuff out, etc. etc.

That was piss me off beyond belief.

Ooh I'd be livid! I am a receptionist so people feel free to go into my locked drawers (the key isn't hidden very well) and take what they please. There's nothing too exciting in there, but people have taken loose change out of my drawer, snacks, sodas- as if it were their own personal stash. People have no respect for what isn't theirs!

this would make me crazy!!! i would definately have the office manager send out an email and let them know they s hould not be touching your stuff

Not many people look before sitting down.

I'd be fuming and finding out who took the liberty of throwing away personal possessions, quite loudly.

I kid. That's rude and ballsy. You should definitely e-mail the office manager so they can send a 'reminder' e-mail to the staff that they shouldn't be touching anything that's not their's.

I agree with other posters - you should tell the office manager so that he/she could send out an e-mail addressing the fact that people need to respect other's property.

I would be livid. That's rude and uncalled for and talk about overstepping boundaries.

People are very rude in the work place. The things I see at my job at crazy. I was out for maternity leave and while I was out they had hired a ton fo temps for the whole department. Well they put a temp at my desk. I come back and I was moved to another desk which is really no big deal. The lady at my desk was using my suit jacket the whole time! When I came back she had it on the chair and people told me she was wearing it the whole time! Really lady!

I have people gone through my desk and steal my secret stash of candy. Things are moved....

If they use your computer... Hide your mouse. Maybe it will get them to go to another computer.

I would have lost it!! I too share a desk and if one thing is moved I lose my mind. I don't know what I would have done if someone threw out something of mine.
