I pretty much think I know the answer to this, but...
I need to pump and dump if I am going to be taking vicodin, right? I had an emergency visit to the dentist today and I need all four of my wisdom teeth out They gave me vicodin to hold me over until I get them out, but I have held off on taking them because I couldn't get intouch with any doctors about it.

Ok, so how long do I have to wait to give her my BM again after I stop taking the vicodin? I'm in so much pain. As much as I've been trying NOT to take the vicodin, I can't bare it anymore

I would call your pediatrician tomorrow & ask.

Re: I pretty much think I know the answer to this, but...
Thank you! I am DYING over here. I don't want to take it until I know the exact details. The dentist and the pharmacist were both stupid men who couldn't give me the answers I needed.

I'm sorry, but as a pharmacist I have to say there is no excuse for him not being able to help you with this question. There are plenty of references available that he should have checked for you. Anyway, from what I looked up for you, Percocet would probably be safer than Vicodin or Tylenol with codeine during breastfeeding, and you could still give your baby your milk. I know I took Percocet after discharge from the hospital, and my OB also told me it is safe to take while BFing. I hope you feel better soon.

Re: I pretty much think I know the answer to this, but...
I didn't when I got Vicodin for my back. Most women who get c sections are discharged with percocet which while it isn't the same is similar. I think you have to do what you feel most comfortable with. Did you tell the dentist you were BFing? My doc always asks me. Last time with my back I couldn't get a muscle relaxer because I was BFing but I got the Vicodin.

Re: I pretty much think I know the answer to this, but...
Ugh. The dentist wrote the script when i was just about to leave. I didn't even see him to ask him about BF-ing. I broke down and took some last night because I am in so much pain But I dumped all my milk. I can't even take any now, though because I'm home alone w/ the baby.
