I really don't mind waking up to feed Chase...BUT...

it does drive me nuts how long it takes for him to settle down and go back to sleep. With Ava, she never really woke up. She'd wake for a bottle, but basically sleep through it and her diaper change and I'd put her right back down. How spoiled I was! Chase screams through his diaper change and then happily sucks down his bottle while awake and falls asleep, but as soon as you put him down, he's awake againChat Icon I rock him, I shush him, I let him do his thing in his crib and fuss a bit, I try every trick in the book, but still it takes him almost an hour to fall asleep and then that means in two hours, he'll be up again to eat and start the whole process again. And of course, after being up for an hour, sometimes more, I can't just fall back to sleep, so I'm basically awake the whole damn nightChat Icon I know it's just temporary and it's just part of having a newborn, but still, I don't like itChat Icon

I hear ya. Tristan got like that as he got a bit older when he was still waking in the night, but didn't really need to eat - also around the time I stopped BFing.

It gets better, hang in there! Chat Icon

DD was doing the same thing. We have figured out that if we set the alarm and wake before she does, she will stay asleep and not get all riled up (basically we dream feed her for the 3am feeding). Might be worth a shot!

DD is 9 weeks and she got A LOT better about this within the last 2 weeks or so. I also try to feed her before she starts crying (like when she starts rustling around). I found that helps too.

Re: I really don't mind waking up to feed Chase...BUT...

I remember those nights well. I used to get so frustrated... once the baby would fall asleep I would be wide awake... baby snoring a little (so cute), DH snoring (not so cute), and dog snoring (I could hear him from all the way upstairs). It must be difficult to function with your DD during the day. I felt a little like a zombie, but could doze when DS was napping. Hang in there! As we all know... as soon as you get used to this phase, he will change it up on you!

You're too funny! I have to say, every time I say his name, I just love it more! I can't believe we almost named him Nate! I only see him as a Chase!

And thanks, girlsChat Icon I'm going to try getting to him before he cries tonight to see if that works. I know he'll grow out of it soon. If I didn't have Ava, it wouldn't be an issue, but she obviously needs me too come morning! Such is having a newborn I guess!Chat Icon
