Another Q for moms of preemies - waking to feed

DC are 2 weeks old today (adjusted age 38 weeks). My pediatrician has us waking to feed every three hours, mostly for the little guy but we are waking the other one as well so that they are somewhat on the same schedule. I would say about 50% of the time one of them is up already and hungry by that point.

For those that had to wake to feed, how old were your DC when you were you able to stop this and let them wake on their own? Did they still wake up every three hours to eat or did it change?

It's funny bc DS was on such a schedule when he came home from the hospital that we never even had to wake him...3 hours on the dot he was up and ready to be fed. Eventually, he started going a bit longer at night (like very 4 hours) but not sure how long that took. It wasn't too long....

DD was 4 months old when her ped was happy enough with her weight to let her sleep at night.

She would still get up a few times, but would sleep longer then 4 hours.

We fed her on demand during the day so she would sleep longer at night.

Mine were on a good schedule from the NICU, waking on their own every 3 hours, after about 2 weeks home they went 4 hours every now and again and I let them ( my ped said 3-4 hrs most at that time and my littler one was like 5 lbs at that time).

My first came home at 2.5 months and I think we woke him for antoher few weeks. AS soon as the ped told us to let him sleep he slept through the night!

In the last few weeks (they are 8 weeks) they have been waking on their own to eat but they are still pretty much on that 3-4 hour schedule.
