I really need some advice tonight.......

I was a teacher for 15 years. I am an AP now. I need a change. I am honest with myself and know that I am just not good at telling people that they are not good at their job. In fact, I really suck at it. I love the organization piece but the observation piece I am not fond of.

So, here I am,,,18 years into education...make a solid almost 6 figures, what I am going to do? I have such stress and anxiety with holding other people's lives in my hand.

So, now what? I need the salary but not the stress!

Hmm yeah that makes sense, I used to be a teacher & I never envied the APs... all that pressure from above to U people (I guess they must tell you that you can't give everybody an S).... and most APs had reputations as power-hungry a-holes... very few were thought of as down to earth. Not a position I'd want to be in either being forced to give people negative evaluations.

With your admin degree, can you apply for some other kind of job within the system but not in a school?

Can you go back to teaching? Maybe a lead teacher position?

Can you look into curriculum and instruction or pupil personnel services type of positions?

My APs became principals. Yeah, I know, probably not what you're looking for. Other DOE admins go into positions as network leaders. What about a teacher mentor?

What about a Guidance Counselor? I heard they make great $$, up there with your salary.
