I saw (and heard) it!!!
I had a wonderful day today. Went to meet the staff at the doctors office to fill out paperwork. I don't have an appointment with the midwife until Friday, this was the initial intake appointment and I wasn't sure what to expect. It was tons of paperwork, they went over the appointment schedule and sonograms (they only do one sono @20 weeks which seems to be common where i live with most ob/gyns unless you are high risk or have complications). They told me once I am 9-10 weeks I will get to hear the heartbeat at every visit. They gave me all information about the hospital and a bag filled with coupons, samples of baby products and pregnancy magazines. We went over what to eat, what to avoid, what is normal, not normal. Overall the appointment was very informative. I expressed my concern over not having a sonogram until 20 weeks especially since I had cramping and spotting early on. They were great about it and got me in for an u/s this morning after I did my bloodwork (which holy wow they take a lot of blood!!)
Luckily DH was with me  We were both nervous but excited. The woman who did my u/s was awesome. She said she couldn't find why I had the cramping and spotting but that it might have been from implantation b/c I am 5 weeks 6 days (and i thought I was 6 weeks 5 days, so I'm a week less pregnant than I originally thought). She could tell that I ovulated from my right ovary which is where I had a lot of pain, cramping and burning after the bfp. It was amazing b/c we could see the babys heartbeat - it was a blob and inside it was flickering. Then she turned on the sound and we could hear it She said that the baby's heart probably started beating only a few hours ago! She said if I came a day earlier I probably wouldn't have seen it or heard it.
Then I got 3 pictures  I had a Flip camera in my bag so we were able to take a snippet of video from the sono to send to my in-laws up in NY when we tell them. You can faintly hear the heartbeat in the background. It was great because they had a huge flat screen so the video came out good and we were able to see everything so large on the screen. I'm also going to show my parents the video when we tell them - my Mom knows already in secret but I didn't tell her anything about the sono so I at least have something to surprise her with.
I feel relieved. Praying everything continues to do okay! Another 3-4 weeks and I can hopefully hear the heartbeat again!
Oh and my EDD is July 7!

Congratulations! Seeing and listening to the heartbeat just makes it so real doesn't it?

YAYYYY!!!!!! So far my EDD is 7/8 so we're a day apart!!!!!! How awesome to have seen the heartbeat!! I can't wait for my appt already!!!

Oh wow!!! Maybe we'll be labor buddies!!!
We got engaged on 7-3, then of course there is July 4th, DH likes the sound of 7-7 and my sister's birthday is 7-11 so there are a lot of cool dates in the beginning of July for us that would make a special birthday. I never in a million years thought I'd have a July baby! Especially in FL - I'll probably be so swollen! I hear being pregnant in the hot weather stinks. What month was your DD born?

That's right - you are July too!
Yeah, I am being cautious as well. It's like the most exciting and scary time all rolled into one.
But hearing the heartbeat and seeing the little flicker - amazing! Put me more at ease.
