I tested positive for Strep B
I know its not really a huge deal these days, but Im a little
the Dr. said as soon as my water breaks I have to go to the hospital and call the Dr. and tell them "my water broke and I am positive for Group B strep" unlike someone who is negatve who could stay at home and wait for labor to progress before going in.
He also said that if labor seems to take a while they will induce quicker (which is fine by me!)
Anyway, I got that info and found out the baby is so high up that she's not even close.

Don't worry Beth, it's no biggie. The only difference is that you'll need an IV just a little quicker- that's it.

Re: I tested positive for Strep B
I'm pretty sure that Felicia had strep B and a friend of mine just delivered last weekend and she had it too. It's fairly common, but I totally know what you mean about it just being "something else" to have to worry about.

Re: I tested positive for Strep B
Sorry to hear it Beth I was really bummed when I tested positive for it too
But as Nicole mentioned- I did test positive for Strep B, and in the end it wasn't really a big deal for me. I went into labor on my own but my water didn't break at home .. however knowing that I was positive for Strep B my doctor had me come to the hospital when I called her in my earlier stages of labor, just to get me started on the antibiotic early enough. As it turned out, my water needed to be broken while i was in active labor so really it was just another IV in my arm during labor
I know its something else to think about but it'll be ok!

Re: I tested positive for Strep B
I had it when I was preggo - it isn't a big deal at all but I remember feeling very disappointed as well. I had to go to the hospital when my water broke and was put on pit right away (but I wasn't dilated much when my water broke and since I had to be in the hospital for the meds - they'll start the pit).
