i think im making myself crazy
do you ever feel like you're overthinking everything? like if you just stopped temping, and charting, and using opk's etc that it'll just happen the way that God intended? in the back of my mind i feel like im making this process more stressful then it should be, but at the same time im scared to stop worrying about it cause im afraid i'll miss my opportunity if im not paying attention to my body.
do you ever feel like this?

Re: i think im making myself crazy
Okay, I haven't even started ttc yet, we just decided we will start trying in August and I am ALREADY bugging out.
Some people just have the personality where they overthink everything or worry, where other people are more relaxed about things.
I feel when someone wants something REALLY bad, then how can you not drive yourself alittle carzy, especially when you know it might not be as easy as 1,2,3
You are totally not alone, good luck and keep truckin

I agree.
But I'm just the opposite. I tempted when I got PG with my DS and I actually found that it made it less stressful. I didn't take a single PG test until the one that told me I was PG and I really knew anyway because of my charts.
However, this time I just don't have a consistent enough sleep schedule or my toddler is grabbing my attention so I can't lay motionless for a few minutes to get an accurate reading.
I must confess that we had a one time "lets see what happens" right before xmas. And I ended up taking 3 pee tests because I couldn't stand the wait and not knowing. I had to laugh at the one that I took the morning AF came- like the "not pregnant" was yelling at me to give up POASing.

Re: i think im making myself crazy
If you are overthinking things and making yourself crazy, it can actually work against you. Everyone says the slightest emotion can throw your body off. This is our 1st month TTC and I used an OPK and it was a disaster. Not for me. If we don't get a BFP this month, I am going to try the old fashioned way next month and see what happens. But don't make yourself crazy. Just think that getting there is hald the fun and how wonderful it will be when you are PG!

Re: i think im making myself crazy
Honestly? Been there, done that, bought the tee shirt.
I've tried everything. If relaxing could get me pregnant... I would have saved $12k and been a mother by now - but unfortunately that's not the case for everyone.
I never felt "obsessed" with TTC - it never interfered with my normal life. I still went out and did the things I normally did... TTC is and has been just a PART of my life.

Re: i think im making myself crazy
Definitely
If we are not lucky this month, I am definitely going to step away from the "process" next month. Just good old fashioned BDing - you will not find a stick to pee on in this house
I am finding that now that I really want it is why I am getting crazy about it.

Re: i think im making myself crazy
I think we've all been there at some point of the TTC journey. Definitely listen to your body, but try and not over analyze every twinge in your body...and step away from POAS. Your body aka AF is the one who will let you know if your PG or not.

Re: i think im making myself crazy
It is very easy to make yourself crazy over this, which is why I promised myself I wouldn't and failed slightly this month!
But now that I know how I can get after one month of trying, I am aware of it and will learn from this in order to maintain my sanity....
The problem is this:
We can control how hard we can work on our careers. We can control how much we do with our spouses. We can control almost anything in our lives, but we cannot go in our bodies, and control what is going on in there. And this is so much what most women want.
Why go through PMS, cramps, tampons, pads, staining our favorite white pants, dealing with our wideass hips, if it was all for nothing?
We suffer through all the evils of womanhood because it is related to having a child. We want the payoff here!!!
And this is why it is very easy to go crazy when going through this. Not to mention that when we find out we are not pregnant happens to be at the most emotional time of the month ANYWAY, a time when a hallmark commercial or not getting your favorite muffin at the deli can send you into hysterics!

Re: i think im making myself crazy
A couple of my friends right now are TTC and with all of them, we've all had the same discussions...lets not let each other become obsessed or crazy about it! obviously that is easier said than done. but its good to have friends to keep you in check...as well as good hubbies to help out.
i'm just beginning the journey of TTC -- starting month # 2, so i'm sure those who have been trying for awhile think "yeah right" but i just don't want it to take over my life. i hope it happens naturally but if it doesn't, we'll take it one step at a time. DH and i are in agreement over that. our #1 rule is that we will NOT test early no matter what...and that if i test, he will be there with me..but only if AF is late a min. of 3 days. (i've always had weird cycles). that is a promise we made to one another, and i think that alone will help keep me from going crazy and becoming a POAS addict and not obsessing or overthinking too much.

What she said.......
I mean literally, you stated this PERFECTLY!!! So perfectly, I might copy and paste it somewhere, so I can re-read over and over again!

Re: i think im making myself crazy
I really do believe that there is two ways of thinking about it. However, as a type A personality, I like knowing what is going on and taking special care to optimize my chances. But as I learned last month, I can't go overboard and have it interfere in my life. Don't forget to make time for other things that you enjoy, just strike a balance that you feel is good for you!
