I think my dog's tail is "broken"
She usually has a tail that curls up (she is a mutt- prob part beagle) today she cannot lift it up. It is just kind of straight at the base and then just hangs down. My son does pull it once in a while (he's killing me with it-he's 2 1/2) and she got in a little scuffle at the dog park yesterday but we didn't notice it until this morning. Any ideas/experience with this? We will call the vet tomorrow.

Re: I think my dog's tail is "broken"
She might have "limp tail". If they over-exert themselves, or put some kind of strain on the muscles, the tail will go limp. This has happened to my dog a few times, he only has one back leg, so whenever he is running or playing a lot, his tail will be limp for a day or so. If it goes back to normal in a day or so, it's nothing to worry about. Because you noticed it in the morning, without any trauma or anything, it's most likely not an injury.

She has been (SORRY TMI) licking her butt a lot lately. That is possible. Luckily the next day she was much better so I guess it was just a "limp tail". I'll mention these things to the dr. We go soon for check up anyway.

This happens to my dog when his hiney is hurting him it will usually fix itself once he feels better.. once we did have to take him to the vet to get his anal glands drained
