I think We've Decided
We were trying to come up with a nice trip for my in-laws 60th anniversary.
Well I think we will be sending them on a cruise to Bermuda on Royal Caribbean Explorer of the Seas. It's a 5 day cruise.
What do yiou think?
This ship is huge and has everything you could ever want on it.

Go for it. Awesome idea! We went on a cruise last January, and I cannot wait to get back on another one!

Re: I think We've Decided
I love cruises, but I'm going to be honest here and tell you that I liked Princess better than Royal Carribean. JMHO, either way, a cruise is a great idea for older folks!

Re: I think We've Decided
I wish Princess sailed out of New York/NJ but they don't..at least they don't in the months we want.
But they've never been on a cruise. They are going to be blown away.
We are getting them a suite balcony cabin.

Re: I think We've Decided
Just want to tell you something honestly -- my parents went on their 3rd cruise this summer from NYC to Bermuda. Previously, they had done the Greek islands and northern European cruises. My mother was very, very sick the whole time b/c the Atlantic is apparantly very rough in those spots -- and she had NO problems on the other 2 cruises. Several ppl on the boat were sick for the same reason. Just an FYI

Re: I think We've Decided
when did she go? The month matters too. They are probably going in August. The seas in the Atlantic are rough around April, May or June but should be better in the summer.
Thank you for the info.

I have cruised all over and have been on a cruise to Bermuda. I have never had a problem with being sea sick. You hardly feel the rocking on these newer ships. They are huge!!! My first cruises where on boats that where about 45,000 tons and you felt everything. The explorer of the seas is about 138,000 tons. It is one of the biggest boats a float. They will be fine!!The stabilizers are great on these new ships.
A lot of the boats sailing to Bermuda are very small, about 45,000 tons or so. They are the old boats of each cruise company. Like I said above, you feel everything on these small boats. You can hardly walk down the hallways with out bumping into walls. This maybe the reason your mom was sick.
