I thought Federal refunds comes back first then state???
They debited my state a few days ago which I owed and I have yet to see my federal refund which they owe me. How long do I have to wait for the federal refund?

Didn't you choose the day for the state to debit your account? I picked a day for the state that was only a day or two away, so that came out before I got my federal refund.
Did you e-file? I e-filed and had my federal return in 10 days. Most people I know who e-filed got theirs within 2 weeks. I believe there is a chart on the IRS web site that will tell you when you'll receive your refund.

They are seperate entities so what you owe one has nothing to do with your refund from the other. Last year it took 2-3 weeks to receive my federal refund by filing electronically & having direct deposit.

You would think I would have considered post dating the debit BUT I didnt consider that until I hit the button to send 
I guess I will have to wait another 2-3 weeks for them to put back my federal refund. I realize its two seperate places but I still thought federal always came back first. Yes, I did efile...will that get me my money back quicker? I mean I pretty much had a wash for the year. BUT I am currently in the negative range being that my federal has not come back...Lovely!

When did you file? If you e-filed, you should have the fed return within 2 weeks.

NY state is funny like that..it takes them forever to refund your money but they are super quick to debit your account...
I still dont understand how the IRS can get you your refund faster when they have the whole country than NY that is only the state...

Actually, I received my state refund about a week before receiving the federal
The IRS has about 6-7 major processing centers around the country. NYS has 1 in Albany.

efiled March 16th

It goes by the date your return was accepted, so log into where you did the taxes and it will tell you what date it was accepted by the IRS.
