I thought the terrible twos were bad...
as we approach the 3 year mark, it's getting worse.
He wants to be so independent and do everything himself, which I don't have a problem with. But the screaming...telling me no...temper tantrums are multiplied...not listening... Some days I just want to rip my hair out.
Hopefully I'm not in the only toddler mom in this situation.

Re: I thought the terrible twos were bad...
I have heard 3 is worse then 2.
Good Luck, we are dealing with wanting to do everything ourselves too, and the flipping out if things don't go their way. It is quite annoying to say the least.

Re: I thought the terrible twos were bad...
3 is worse than 2!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
At 2 they want to "do it themselves" which they cant..but they will accept your help... At 3 they want to "do it themselves" but they wont let you help and they are to young to do "it" At 4 they can actually "do it themselves"

Re: I thought the terrible twos were bad...
Nope, you're not.
I locked myself in the bathroom for 10 mins. yesterday because I couldnt take the screaming anymore.
All because Alex wanted a snack.
I told her all we had was carrots or tomatoes. This launched her into a screaming fit that lasted for 30 mins.
After 30 mins., she came to me, said she was sorry and asked for carrots and tomatoes.
She ate some, and was fine for the rest of the night.
Just think of all we have to look forward to when they're teenagers!

Lets just say you're not the only one. I have it coming from both a 2 year old and a 4 year old.

Re: I thought the terrible twos were bad...
I agree with the other posters. You are definitely not alone! Andrew has to do everything himself or he screams. And he does things in super-slow motion, so I have to have a lot of patience. The other day was the first time I actually had to physically remove him from a store b/c he was acting up so badly. We left with him kicking and screaming and me burying my head!

Re: I thought the terrible twos were bad...
Stef, I'm dealing with the same thing!!! Julia wants to do everything herself, and if she doesn't get what she wants in a store she will have a full blown brakedown!! She tell me NO, or I DO IT (and gives me an too) lol
It will be such a joy to deal with once the baby is here!!

Re: I thought the terrible twos were bad...
My mother has a saying "Terrible Two's, Impossible 3's"
I have a little while to go, but, I see it with my nephew who is 3. We took him out this AM. I asked for a hug and kiss goodbye, he said "NO"..OK, Fine..Not a big deal..Said "We love you"...We (DS and I) walk away and I hear "Wait, Aunt Dawn, Wait"...I just don't play the game.. I got my hug and my kiss. LOL
They definitley have their moments.

Re: I thought the terrible twos were bad...
Stef, I totally know what you mean. Bella is "too busy" to listen or just ignores us all together...and she is the Queen of the crumble to the ground tantrum if we don't give her kisses, hugs, "uppy", anything fast enough. Timeouts help, but sometimes it's just so frustrating!
We have incredibly bad days (usually when we are both home with her) and incredibly amazing days because she is like a friend I can chat with...

Yes DD is advanced too! She'll be turning 20mths in just a few days and just this morning I had to drag out of the library during storytime due to multiple tantrums.

Muhahahahaha...
My kid started displaying the terrible two's at around 18 months too.
And she's 2.5 and we're still in the thick of it.
It doesn't get better
