I thought this working mom thing was supposed to get easier
When I first went back to work after 4 months, I adjusted fine to being a working mom, but as DS is getting older and older, and doing more and more things each day and becoming this wonderful person the more I hate being away from him.
I get sad after I put him to sleep at night and sometimes will just watch him on the monitor for the rest of night.
He is only 9 months and he is just the most incredible little boy and he has so much growing up to do and I feel like I am missing most of it.
For the past few days when I pick him up from my mom's he cries and reaches back for her.
It breaks my heart to see my little boy reaching out for someone else.
I just want so badly to be able to stay at home and be with him.
thanks for reading.

Hang in there. It will get better. Like when he gets excited to see you come pick him up. Kids always have their "favorite person" and it is constantly changing. I am a SAHM and Ryan still prefers his dad over me at the moment.

I definetly know what you mean. I am having the same feelings right now. It kills me that my DD spends more time at my sister's than she does with me.

Re: I thought this working mom thing was supposed to get easier
I know how you feel. I am lucky in a way because I teach so I know I will be home on vacations, summers, etc. But I was talking to a parent today and I said I think it is harder now. DD is 21 months old and she is a little person now. She says new things each day, and I know I miss out on a lot of that. My mom watches her so we are lucky because there is no one else I'd rather have her with. And like my mom told me..I'm working so my DD can have the best of what we can give. So I have to keep thinking that. Good luck!

Re: I thought this working mom thing was supposed to get easier
Honestly, it's not easy at any age. I'd love to say that since DD is over 2-years-old now that it's easier to go to work daily but it's just not. I always miss her so much. It definitely makes my return that much sweeter though.
For myself, I've really had to put things in perspective. I work so that DD will have a secure future. I make emotional sacrifices everyday. I have financial peace of mind and I spend as much quality time with DD that I can. So I think it all depends on your outlook. I have come to terms with the way things have to be for our family.
Hang in there and think about all of the wonderful things you are doing for your family. Sounds like your DS is in the capable hands of a precious family member. Know that there are days that you will feel sad but there will be many rewarding days also.
