Silly me, how dare I have compassion for other humans. There seems to be a plethora of new posters who have a low tolerance for humanity lately. I find that interesting.

Rachel, don't mind that nasty poster who had to write that about what you did, she must have her own issues at home....Chat Icon

I find it odd too that these type of posters are popping up all over different boards now.......Chat Icon

It made me angry, it made me sad and it made me really take a good look at myself as a mom.

I was shopping in Target for some pjs and other things, and there was this woman and her 12 year old-ish daughter shopping. At first I thought nothign of them, but then the mother turns to the daughter, who was just browsing around, and says, "Just pick something already you stupid b----!" And I couldn't believe my ears. Here I am, within arm's reach with my baby, and this woman is speaking to her daughter that way. The daughter just replied, "Okay, fine." And then the mother did it again, said, "You're a f---ing little b----!"
So here I was, standing there with my daughter. My precious, beautiful, amazing daughter who I try so hard to do the right thing by, and this woman was talking to HER beautiful, amazing, precious daughter like that.
I'm so sad. I'm so sickly, madly, angrily sad for that little girl. And it was like some surreal moment standing there witnessing this, then looking down at my own flesh and blood, thinking, "Oh my god, how could anyone ever talk to their child that way?"
I'm just so upset over this. And reading Jamie's post about feeling like a bad mother made me stop and really think about what I saw again today. So, for those of you who worry, like me, that you might be a bad mother, just do the best you can to take care of your children and protect them from monsters like I saw today, and you will always be a good mom in my book.

In all honesty, who really cares. This has nothing to do with you or your family. I dont think people should judge others, especially if you dont know them. Who knows what the circumstance are or were with that particular family (mother and daughter). Im not saying that speaking to a child or adolescent like that is appropriate, it certainly isnt, but no one has the right to judge another person. Some people should mind their own business.

Wow!, well in all honesty, most NORMAL mothers would CARE to see a child spoken to in that manner..Chat Icon Regardless of the situation..Especially in public!

Ignore this poster's comment Rach, I've seen drama started from this person before on other boards...Chat Icon

I totally agree! ANY mom's heart should crumble seeing a child being mistreated Chat Icon

What's with the anonymous posters trying to play tough??
Take the shades off and show your face, and THEN tell "some people" to mind their own business..Chat Icon

In all honesty, WHAT is wrong with YOU. Under what circumstances would you find this behavior appropriate? There's something seriously wrong with a society of people who'd rather "look the other way"!!!

Rach, I'm sorry that you had to witness this....I have no words!!Chat Icon

I couldn't agree more Chat Icon

Good for you that you said what you did...even if it doesn't change anything maybe that mother stopped and thought for a moment about her behavior

So obvius it goes on all the time btw the daughter reactedChat Icon

Because when others ignore this type of behavior children are hurt killed or turned in to abusers themselves.

So I am going to go with you either A) have no children or B) are abusive yourself.

You are all right , that we all do have to care - I agree with the statement - It takes a village.I would have wanted to say something to the woman in target but dont know whether I would have - I applaud people who do speak up.
