I'd like to donate yarn
My mom has been cleaning and has found a significant amount of yarn that she'd like to donate. Mostly brand new skeins. Anybody know of any organizations that would accept it ?
Thanks

Re: I'd like to donate yarn
Some churches will take it for their groups that do crafts. Also there are nursing homes that might accept it.

Re: I'd like to donate yarn
I have a bunch of yarn that I was planning to take to the Saver's store near us. A portion of their profits go to support the Big Brother Big Sister organization.

Re: I'd like to donate yarn
There are organizations that make hats and blankets for babies in NICUs in hospitals and also for cancer patients. I know that BINKY PATROL is one organization that I participated in when I was in college. You could do some googling and come up with something I am sure!
Or you can find someone who crochets or knits and would be willing to make blankets to donate to hospitals, cancer patients, animal shelters, etc!
Also you could offer it on Freecycle.org and specifically put that you want someone who will donate the blankets made with it to take the yarn!

Re: I'd like to donate yarn
My son actually has to bring in yarn for his religion class. They are collecting the yarn for people who make hats for the newborns and sick babies at Winthrop Hospital. If you have extra yarn and want to donate it, I would gladly accept it and have him bring it to his religion school. He is actually having a special 4th grade Mass this Sunday where all the children will bring their yarn to the altar.

I'd like to donate yarn
as a knitter, i'm so happy to hear people wanting to donate the yarn instead of tossing it.
senior centers will also take yarn. they give it to the senior citizens to entertain them.
