Ideas for a This Day $ucks Party
To make a long story short next Sunday will be 2 years that my sister (27 yo) passed away along with my BF supposed to be engagement party but her FH called off the wedding 2 weeks ago.
So to keep everyones mind busy I decided to have a This Day $ucks party. I was looking for ideas to make it a good time under horrible circumstances...
Let the ideas flow.
I was thinking of making a Pinata with her xFH picture on it so she could beat it but I am not sure if that is a good idea.

That's a great idea. You are a sweetheart for doing it. I'd do things that distract everyone. A moving party? Like a circle line tour followed by drinks at South Street Seaport? Or do you want it at your house?

I would like to do it at my house since i have twins that are under 2 and there will be a lot of family here to support us. my BF I know since I am 1 and we are very lucky to have each other so our families are very intertwined.

Have someone in house for spa treatments/mani/pedi. Get a bunch of scratch offs (hey you never know, someone might get lucky). Order in some food, etc.

I personally don't think the pinata is a good idea. I know it's your sister but regardless of the circumstances and what happened between her and her ex FH, I think you need to remember your sister in a "better" way.
Like do things that she would have loved to do.
What were her hobbies, sports? You could do a scheme around that.

You're awesome for doing this!!
Since you're having a theme - maybe get things that you can suck on - lollipops, ice pops, drinks with wacky straws (the kinds that are curly Q), tequila shots (suck on the lemon), jolly ranchers, etc...

I misunderstood!
I still don't like the idea of the FH's bashing. I think you can find other things to do on a more positive note.

Maybe a 'rememberence' party for your sister - each family member/friend brings a story they remember about her, a favorite photo of her, something of hers to tell a story about etc.
For your BF.. anything to keep her mind off of things will help. I think being with friends and family will help give her the support she needs.
I agree with other posters tho, don't make it a bitter event (maybe thats something you guys can do on your own separately with a few drinks  )
it's a wonderful idea tho
